We went to Nikolaevka 2 years in a row (2008.2009) with children 2 and 5 years old. I liked everything very much. We rented a 2-room apartment for 230 UAH. The apartment had 7 beds. Rested great! Prices are very low compared to the whole Crimea. The sea is clean, there are no ports nearby and there is no waste in the sea. This is very important with children. And what about garbage - do you think the residents of Nikolaevka themselves litter? You need to behave decently and appreciate hospitality. If you go looking for dirt and garbage - you will find it everywhere! Moscow is even dirtier. If they themselves are boors, they will be rude to you in return. Moscow has a particularly boorish attitude towards Ukrainians. So first look at your country, and then point out the shortcomings of the neighboring one. If you are going to rest, the main thing is to tune in to a good rest, and not to look for shortcomings. And the rest will be good. Next year again in Nikolaevka!
