We first visited Svityaz 3 years ago on a trip to Volyn. We had an excursion program for 3 days and a 3-day vacation in Svityaz. We have the best memories. We remember Svityaz with unusually clear water, awesome sunsets and delicious eel. And now now we decided to go for a week ourselves. Last time we rested in the village of Svityaz. Now we decided to relax in the Gryada tract on the opposite shore of the lake. A friend who had already rested here more than once advised us. number. But here we ran into a problem how to get there. The direct train, which used to come to Kovel in the morning, now arrives at one in the morning. Tickets for passing trains are not sold in advance. It only remained to go by bus. We found a direct bus from Kyiv to the village. Svityaz. It goes once a day from the southern railway station at 24-00 and arrives by 8 in the morning. Since no one went to the Ridge except us, the driver did not want to go there. taxi got to the camp site. You can take a bus to Kovel. They go from Kyiv from 7-00 every 2 hours. Minibuses go from Kovel to Shatsk. It takes 1.5-2 hours. There is also a direct large comfortable bus from Kyiv. It departs from the central bus station at 19-00 and arrives in Svityaz at 6 am. We traveled by a small minibus.
The Svityaz-Center camp site is located at the very beginning of the Ridge. The remoteness from noisy discos and cafes was an advantage for us. Although I read on the Internet that an insane company was resting at a neighboring camp site and they had to be calmed down by the police at 4 in the morning.
The Gryada tract is 6 km of camp sites located in 2 lines along the coast. Most of them are old departmental bases with houses without amenities. Svityaz Center also has housing without amenities for 60 UAH. And two buildings. In one there is a dining room and rooms with amenities on the floor. We lived in a building on the very shore with separate amenities. We got a 3-bed room with a balcony on the 2nd floor. We did not want to live in the attic room on the 3rd floor, because it is very hot there. On the 1st floor, family 2-room suites with a kitchen. Our room is lined with wood. The room has a TV, refrigerator, wardrobe, hanger, bedside tables. There is no air conditioning, there is a floor fan. The plumbing is old, but there is a shower and hot water all the time. The room is not provided with towels. There is no room cleaning. There is a broom with a dustpan in the corridor, sweep it yourself. The territory of the base is clean and well-groomed. , rental of boats and catamarans. Although the beaches on the Ridge They are a narrow strip of land with sand and grass. The coast is very shallow. To swim, you need to walk a hundred meters. But we came to the conclusion that in Svityaz you need to take baths. The water is very warm and healing. It contains silver and glycerin. It very useful for skin and hair and even heals wounds. The water temperature was under +30. We were not very lucky with the weather. Only the first three days it was hot. Then it got colder, a cold wind blew, it was warmer in the water. we didn’t swim and caught the sun’s rays to warm ourselves. It was good that there was almost no rain. The one who arrived after us was not lucky at all. We were also lucky that there were no mosquitoes. In the evening we watched beautiful sunsets. There is a forest nearby. But we were primarily interested in mushrooms. But, unfortunately, there were none. I didn't take with me passport. We went with them on a tour of the Shatsky Lakes. In addition to Svityaz, there are more than 30 lakes in the Shatsky Natural Park. But most of them are wild. We visited the lakes Pesochnoe, Vel. The sand is even cleaner and more transparent than Svityaz. But Svityaz is the largest lake. 4 km wide and 9 km long. Although it is shallow near the shore, the lake is not at all shallow. The average depth is 7 m, and the maximum is 58 m. strong wind.

We ate at the canteen. 3 meals a day cost 95 UAH. Quite decent, varied, large portions. Meat is not only chicken. Who doesn’t like it, there is where to eat on the Gryad. they ride bicycles along the coast, offer pies, donuts, dumplings, potato pancakes, corn. We liked the local dish mannika. They look like zrazy, but the dough is made from semolina with milk, cottage cheese with raisins inside. We were invited to the Phoenix hotel for eel kebab. But we were so full that there was nowhere to go. By the way, we asked the people living there about their impressions. They said that the negative reviews on the Internet are not true. In Phoenix, a 2-bed room with 2 meals a day costs 560 UAH. Not very expensive. But we paid 430 UAH. For this money, everything suited us perfectly. There were a lot of vacationers on the Ridge. Everything is busy at the bases. in vain Svityaz fell into the TOP-7 natural wonders of Ukraine.
We brought smoked eel home. Do not buy expensive and very large eel. This is from Polish frozen eels. For 100 UAH. you can buy a local excellent eel.
We were going to go back by train. But because of the weather, we decided to go earlier by bus. At 13-00 it leaves the village of Svityaz. The bus was half empty and the driver agreed to pick us up on the Gryada. In the evening we were already at home. The train from Kovel had not yet departed.
