Once, well, you know when), the Colchis boarding house was really impressive, built on a very good place, with a magnificent view of the sea, Gagra, mountains and the seaside park (by the way, these views are still there, though a little spoiled by time and circumstances), one felt pride for the state and the fraternal republic. But as it turned out, all this is hovering in the corridors of Colchis even now), even if everything is old for a long time and the walls and furniture, but you get 25 years ago and you can feel like that lucky person who received a ticket to the velvet season in Gagra.
The Kolkhida boarding house is located almost directly on the Adler-Gagry road, you just need to climb a little uphill. The territory of the boarding house itself is, of course, running down and requires a major renovation, well, in principle, like the whole situation in Abkhazia. In the old days, the park on the territory with its buildings was very pleasant for visitors.
Accommodation in a boarding house from 12.00, if you arrive early, well, as usual, you have to wait in the lobby. Our room was on the 4th floor, overlooking the sea and the boarding house, towards Adler. The view is very beautiful, with a compartment with large balconies immediately compensates for all the other disadvantages, by the way, there are not many of them. The furniture in the rooms is of Soviet style, like everything else (dishes in the dining room, interiors, etc. ).

Meals take place in the dining room, to the right of the main entrance, I won’t say that I always felt full from eating, well, okay, sometimes it’s also useful to unload. A typical dining room with 1st, 2nd and 3rd, there is a plus in this, now you can’t find it anywhere else. The children did not suffer at all, everything was pleasant.
I’ll say a little about the staff, they practically didn’t intersect, nice people! In general, Abkhazians and all nationalities living in the region are very friendly and hospitable people, for all our presence in the country there was not a single look, there was no bad word, only positive emotions.
The beach is right in front of the hotel, go down the elevator and then walk through the park for about 5 minutes, it all takes, there are pebbles and sand on the beach, the sea is very clean and pleasant, the only thing that bothered me throughout the rest was the entrance and exit from the sea, the fact is that the bottom consists of rather large stones, it is extremely inconvenient and I would even say it hurts to stand and move on such stones. Advice take just in case special shoes for such places.
You can get to the market and the center of Gagra either by minibus (there is a market sign on the windshield) or by taxi, it will not be difficult to catch, that year the taxi ride to the market was 100 rubles, by minibus 20.
The excursion program will be offered to you right in the lobby of the boarding house, but I recommend going to the city and checking prices at other agencies, it is much cheaper there. And so I recommend a trip to Abkhazia, a very sincere and beautiful country.
