I thought long and hard about writing a review. I have visited more than 20 countries and have never written reviews. But this is the first one with a small child in her arms. And I decided to write. I have visited more than 20 countries and have never written reviews. But this is the first one with a small child in her arms. And I decided to write. And so, the main and worst thing in this hotel is the attitude at the reception of our former compatriots working there, namely to Russians, in comparison with any other foreigners from Europe when solving problems, and not simple questions - to sell an adapter to an outlet, or, where is the nearest store. Maybe that's how everything turned out unsuccessfully, because. we read the reviews for a long time before buying a ticket here, plus the high season. But not everything is so simple. It is enough to sit in the lobby and compare how they communicate with the same Germans, French, and even with Moldovans or Ukrainians - but as with Russians.
And so, in order, draw your own conclusions. Three of us flew from St. Petersburg in early September: me, husband, daughter 2.5 years old. A ticket from "Biblio Globus" but bought in "Alexander Tour", prepaid for 250 euros for a sea view, ordered for 50 euros a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The flight was rescheduled from 4 pm to 8 pm, but was warned in advance. Old Boeing 777, on the 2nd floor - normal flight. At the airport taxi to the hotel. We arrived at about one in the morning (consider minus 1 day). From the hotel I met and helped with the suitcases a very pleasant young man, a receptionist, who spoke Russian well. And... at the reception, a very stern and laconic, even unfriendly, elderly gray-haired manager came out, who did not speak Russian, from the word at all.
In polite English, as well as through a well-understanding and speaking receptionist, they asked for a quieter and higher room. a small child, well, of course, with a view of the sea, since paid. The receptionist smiled knowingly and whispered that there are rooms and they will most likely give us on the 3rd floor (there are only 4 floors in the hotel). But, the stern manager at the counter gave us the keys with number 107... 1 floor, with a direct view of the neighboring hotel, with a steep side to the sea and... directly above the restaurant. Seeing how the face of the young receptionist stretched out in surprise, I tried to understand why the hotel manager did not like us so much, except for the fact that we checked in at night, and, judging by the appearance, they probably woke him up. But there was only one answer - there are no other numbers, and he does not have the authority to resolve issues of changing numbers, there is another manager for this, come in the morning and decide with him. Tired after the flight, with a child in their arms, without unpacking their suitcases, they went to bed, leaving everything for the morning.
In the morning at the reception, very pleasantly smiling, in my opinion, Irina (always with a bandage around her neck, with a partner, as I understand it, both from the former CIS countries, the former granary), at first tried to convince us that this room was very good, and when we didn’t agree, once again asking that we have a small child and we don’t want to, well, at all, above the restaurant, on the 1st floor, he also said that she had no authority to move to another room, we need a higher-level manager . When asked where he could be found, it was stated with a certain degree of sarcasm that this manager had a day off, and until she came out, no one in the hotel was authorized to deal with this issue.
To the logical question, how can there be no personnel with a certain competence on a weekday of the high season, it was already quite harshly said that they are not robots here and also have the right to rest. Nobody argued. This is understandable, we pay money to the hotel (consider the staff) in order to come to rest, but before that we have to wait until the staff also rest for our money. We were surprised, but went to partially unpack our bags and then went to breakfast.
Brief digression: Dining room/restaurant: very polite and sincerely pleasant staff (although not speaking Russian). Everything is very neat and clean, very smart staff, never got to wait at least once, in the afternoon / lunch / evening. Everything is quite tasty and varied (except for fresh fruits, but in these countries they always have a minimum of smell and taste), provided that they stay no more than 10-14 days, then they get bored and repeated. But it normal. Very, very nice girls animators who speak Russian, and they also meet vacationers at the entrance to the dining room. The pool area, on the inside of the hotel - excellent, no questions asked (except for the prices in the bar? Naturally, the rule is - the farther from the hotel, the cheaper everything becomes - it works flawlessly), there is a playground.
We return to the reality of the second day. In the evening, a note hangs on the door of the room asking you to come to the reception. Really? ! Let's go. The husband is asked to go into the room behind the counter. A young manager is also there (I think his name is Mikhail, but I'm not sure), he introduces himself as a middle manager and... instead of our questions, he asks if we can move to another hotel for a few days, because. they have “overpopulation”, but for that there will be a super-all-inclusive for us. We ask him a logical question: we have a small child in our arms, 3 suitcases of things under 60 kg, except for the opportunity to drink at the bar, everything is already paid for. We are refusing. They are offended. We ask you to hear us with our request. We again run into the absence of a “vacation” manager in the hotel, but at least we learned her name - Hrishante. Looking forward to the next day.
Along the way, throwing the reception with room problems: Wi-Fi does not work (as a result, they tried to fix it for a week, but they didn’t start it, I had to use either the beach or in the lobby, where I liked the answer of the same Irina from the reception - why do you need it in the room , come here, it's more fun here); Russian channels were not shown on TV, they asked twice at the reception, they came and set it up only after 2 days (independent manipulations on the remote control are blocked); wildly loud, like foam on glass, the glass curtain-door over the bathroom “screamed” when trying to touch it, the husband explained at the reception - he asked for lubrication, the child woke up from this sound, asked for three days, then brought a video with sound - a simple Russian guy came , in a robe, with a WD-shkoy? in her hands, which simply flooded her with the entire rotary plane of the hinge - she stopped creaking for 10 days, but the WD-shka stank for at least a couple of days.
We return to the reality of the third day. The suitcases are not completely unpacked, in the hope... In the morning we go down to the reception in the hope of seeing the rested, while unlike us, and the almighty manager of this hotel, in order to substantiate and explain to her our request, to which one more was added - neighbors on the left and right terribly smokers, but you don’t want to keep the door closed on the sea, suddenly in another room you are lucky with this, and the neighbors will not smoke. We turn to Irina (with a bandage around her neck) with a question - did Hrishante come out and can she be seen. Irina nods her head and leaves through the office door behind the reception desk.
After 1 minute, Irina comes back from the office and says that Hrishante is busy and will not come out, but they have one number and they can offer it to us. It is strange, of course, that, knowing (probably) that we have been asking for 2 days, they did not deign to come out and even ask what the reason for our requests was, but, it seems, they are already offering a replacement! We take the key, even despite the number of the key fob, we run to the porter to look, so we want to unpack everything, hang it up, create at least some comfort, etc.
(Digression: here I am making up, of course, because I was not there, but what followed next, I think, gives me reason to assume so. And this is how I think the conversation between Irina-Hrishante looked like: Listen, Hrishante, here the problematic Russians came, for two days they have been asking to change the number, and something constantly does not work for them, they are already tired... Irina, is it the first time or what? Give them the most unfortunate number, let them go, and then they will immediately like it! )
And we go to look at the room, and we understand that we are going to our room, only this one is opposite us, on the other side, No. 104... The same 1st floor, there is almost no sea view - tall trees close, under the balcony, instead of a restaurant , a technical area for industrial compressors, car unloading, garbage cans with the appropriate amber (although not strong, but we never close the balcony, preferring to sleep without air conditioning), etc. I understand that they just mocked us, we return, silently give the keys to 104 and go to sort out all the things in our 107, deciding that we will not waste our nerves anymore, and we will reduce contacts with the reception, namely with Russian-speaking former (? ) compatriot neighbors to a minimum. On that they decided.
Room cleaning. In general, it's ok. True, for the first three days, the cleaning lady strictly came exactly at the time when we put our daughter to bed (from 13 to 15), and no matter how much the husband did not explain, he drew a time range on a piece of paper - she nodded, but they came anyway at one o'clock. Then they began to clean everything up to 12. I asked my husband how he convinced me - he smiled and said that finances decide everything, do not forget to put "penny", and then the language barrier disappears.
Beach. Bad luck. All the time 14 days of stay it was stormy. Adults are fine, with a small one it is dangerous and uncomfortable. The beach itself (for 7 euros a day) - you can hardly put 3. The sand is removed only from large debris, everything is buried in gobies and small debris. If you bend over, the smell of wet tobacco and something tasteless comes from the sand, and the child crawls and runs along it. Umbrellas are shabby and in a terrible shaggy dirty rust. The sunbeds are "tired", repaired or simply broken. But for that, there is a stable (albeit not very fast) Wi-Fi. Well, for 7 euros a day, at least something.
Hotel. In general, 4-ka. Recently shamanized inside, but very hastily, or hired gastro workers, like ours, worked. It can be seen that everything was done in a hurry, something is already moving away, where they painted, if something interfered, they simply went around with a roller, leaving non-painting where the roller could not go. Overall, the paint job is quite sloppy. The furniture in the room is not for moving small children - the design is "acute-angled", moreover, the corners are just at the level of the head of a 3-4 year old child, and there are a lot of these corners. I had to stick foam rubber on them with tape.
What pleased me was the clear end of all concert programs at 23-00. Yes, I had to “transfer” the child’s end-of-life mode from 21:00 to 23:00, but we slept with an open balcony, almost without problems (a couple of times at 7 in the morning we started to mow the grass with a gasoline lawn mower right under the window, a couple of times at 6 in the morning we did something loudly -cleaned in the pool, all this on the first floor feels like "right in the room").
We chose a day with a non-Russian : -) shift, came up with another problem - we have a late check-out, at 20-00 (at the travel agency, they said that we would buy an extension for 20-25 euros on the spot without any problems, otherwise they will charge for the whole day , why spend? In short, persuaded in St. Petersburg). We ask you to issue an extension (already in 10 days they came) - they say, no problem, though for 65 euros, but you will have to come only on the penultimate day in the evening.
The penultimate day has come, we are approaching in the evening - our “favorite” shift, a girl with a scarf around her neck. And... a categorical refusal to renew - no numbers. No options. Even for the full price of the room (thanks to our travel agency). In the morning we try to somehow extend until 15 o’clock so that the child sleeps in the room during the day, we explain at the reception that 40 rooms on the floor are being evicted, there are 3 cleaners, let our room be cleaned last, the child will just sleep. They connected "Alexander Tour", they called Hrishante. No. You must leave the room at 12 noon. We spat, packed our things, went to the beach, we return at 11-50 - a cleaning lady is already standing by our room and wrinkling... Our room should be cleaned first : -). We slept on a lounger during the day, the child, of course, feels that something is wrong, and the whole way back to St. Petersburg was not so hot. At 18 o'clock they specially went to our room - it was not populated. expected.
I summarize. In general, if you go without children and love lying down by the pool, it’s probably normal. There is a spa, gym and gyms, you don’t need to take sunbeds at 6 in the morning, at any time there are free places by the pool even in the high season (we were September 4-19). There are no problems on the beach with sunbeds either, many generally lie on towels on the sand, the coastline is wide to the sunbeds, the place allows. All staff, with the exception of the reception (former compatriots) are as polite and correct as possible. The hotel and courtyard area is very cozy and clean. The food is not bad, there is variety. The sea is not interesting. And all 2 weeks it was stormy.
Well, in conclusion, the most important thing was that the manager, who tried to offer us a few days to live in another hotel, said when we decided to "load" it with our problems: he took out our voucher and said - look, in your voucher there is only a note about that you paid for the sea view. Not a direct view, or some other, namely, just a view of the sea. You, if you come up to the railing of the balcony and turn your head to the left, will you see the sea? Everything - this condition is fulfilled by the hotel. There is nothing else in the voucher - no, not that you need higher, that you need quieter, that you need a crib and non-smoking neighbors, etc. etc. You, when you buy a ticket in Russia, is it not difficult for you to call our hotel and find out what exactly is recorded in our voucher for you? Well, call next time, we'll tell you which conditions are agreed upon for you and which are not : -).
I finalize - the beach is bad, especially to relax on it with a small child. And if you like all the time at (in) the pool - that's fine. Well, and change the reception staff along with the "resting" local manager for our hard-earned money. All early they do not decide anything and do not meet with the guests.

The first day upon arrival, we were settled for a day on the 3rd floor in a room with a sea view, as our room was busy. They said that this room is a class higher than the room we booked. To be honest, we expected more from him, but the difference turned out to be only in the size of the balcony and the sea view (Direct sea view and jacuzzi on the balcony). On the second day, we moved to live on the 2nd floor in the room of our chosen category and didn’t wish we even liked it more (there was not such noise from the sea and the sun shone only until 12:00 o’clock, therefore it was not so hot in the room) . The room turned out to be much cleaner than the previous one - they cleaned it every day, everything worked in the room, it can be seen that the plumbing is new (as in the previous issue), there are no complaints. It was not difficult for us to buy an adapter for ourselves for 2 Euros (it’s not a fact that these adapters, if the hotel buys them, will not slowly “leave” to their home as a souvenir thanks to tourists). Kettle, sugar, tea, coffee - everything is there. Special thanks to all the employees of the restaurant MOLODTSY. Their work is at the highest level. For 7 days, every evening everything was delicious and exquisite (several types of cheese, salads with seafood, pasta with mussels and squid, salmon, boiled pork...... ). One nuance near the pool from 7 am already occupied places. The location of the hotel is excellent, you can walk to the port or just walk in the evening to the center. And next to the hotel they cook wonderful pizza and resoto with seafood.

We were taken 2 rooms and one child lived with grandparents, the second with me. According to the service, the hotel goes to 4 as it is. But what an unpleasant story happened to us at the end of the holiday. In the hotel rooms in the bathroom there is a glass door, and out of the blue, at the moment when my father was inside the bathroom, and my mother was outside, this heavy glass door flew off the top hinge. This "fool" broke and crashed with all his might, breaking into smithereens. My mother was hit on the arm and small fragments were cut through. Dad also had minor abrasions. Thank God, my children at that moment were in the other room with me. It's scary to imagine... Discouraged and in shock, having called the service, they began to clean up. Approaching the reception after the incident, I asked to change the room, and came across the following: the Russian-speaking manager said that all the rooms are occupied and that they say, well, wait 30 minutes here, now the office manager will have lunch, he will come and ask her. I was well aware that the season and the rooms could be busy, but, given that people were almost beaten by the door, without the slightest apology; ) then the picture continued, talking in English with the hotel's office manager, she offered the apartment, but! The whole dialogue was built as follows, the lady said: what does it have to do with me, that the door fell; this glass door is safe! ; further from the dialogue that the parents were cut by the glass - she said that they refused to help; and the final: all of you are Russians....Here we are))))
The attitude was extremely unpleasant.
Therefore, dear compatriots, if everything goes well, that's good! And if it happens, some kind of emergency, wait for the attitude, as with the Russians...
PS: 99% of the guests in this hotel are from Russia. We are appreciated when it is profitable.

The hotel has practically no territory where one could walk in the evening. No, even an adapter for sockets - they save 2 euros on guests (the cost of an adapter in store, which I had to buy so that I could charge my phone and laptop. ) With the Germans and the British, the Melissi hotel does not allow itself such things, because they know that the rights of citizens of Germany and Great Britain are very well protected, which cannot be said about the citizens of the Russian Federation. If you want to spoil your vacation because of such deceptions, then you are in this hotel, and if not, then you can find other good hotels in Ayia Napa where they do not allow themselves such deceptions, having received full payment for the accommodation of guests.

The problem is with tourists. Whether this is due to the fact that most of the guests are Russian - I do not know. If you suddenly misunderstood something, then no one will stand on ceremony with you, they will demand money with stone faces and in a rude manner. To your objections that you were not in the know, they will peremptorily repeat that rules are rules. We had, in fact, a nonsense situation. We had half board and we wanted to change dinner for lunch 1 time, because we were going to dine in the city. In the evening I called the reception and asked if it was possible to do this. I was told that without any problems you can change dinner for lunch. The next day we went for lunch and then in the evening for dinner. To our surprise, at dinner they began to demand payment for dinner from us. At first we did not understand anything, because we have half board, and lunch was instead of yesterday's dinner. The manager of the restaurant (a Cypriot named Christos) explained to us that you can change dinner for lunch only ON THE SAME DAY. We didn't know this. And when I called the reception, they didn't tell me about it. . When we went to the reception to explain our situation, an elderly Cypriot (with some strange hair color) rudely began to shout that it was FORBIDDEN to transfer dinner or lunch to the NEXT day (I literally translated - he shouted "it is not allowed"). On my arguments that I called, he did not react in any way. And by the way, he was the one on the phone with me that day, he just didn't understand that I wanted to move dinner to lunch the next day. Then, a red-haired middle-aged lady (apparently a manager) with an unfriendly face appeared from somewhere and categorically and loudly said in English "That is not acceptable". Then we realized that it was useless to talk to them. I don't mind the money I ended up paying for dinner. It’s not even the fact that I misunderstood the rules (by the way, their memo doesn’t say that you can change dinner for lunch ONLY on the same day), but I was eventually ripped off for dinner. It is outrageous that they spoke to me in a rude manner at the reception because of a situation that is not worth a damn. I was given to understand that for them I was a nonentity who had come from Russia and they didn’t give a damn about anything. The overall impression of the hotel was undermined. How can a good 4-star hotel have such rude staff - I don't understand.

Biblioglobus met us at the airport, then 40 minutes of transportation and we were there!

We booked a room in the main building (side sea view) and were very worried not to get into the so-called bungalows. However, everything worked out, they settled immediately (we arrived at 14:30) and the rest began!

At first, it seemed that the rooms were a little outdated in design, but after a few hours we got used to it and we really liked the room. From the balcony - side sea view. The air conditioner worked fine, but at night we turned it off. There were no interruptions in water supply for 2 weeks.

We did not use the safe and refrigerator (about 3-5 euros / day). It should be noted that our refrigerator was open and, in principle, we could use it. One power adapter was already available, you can also use the shaver socket in the bathroom (for example, to charge your phone).
Cleaning in the room was like every day: changed towels, shampoos, soap, bed linen, swept. We asked the maids about the kettle, they first said that they say no, you can only buy some kind of set with tea, coffee, etc. for 5 euros / day, but after half a day they brought the kettle just like that. The maids are very friendly. We did not leave a tip, only 8 or 10 euros were left at the check-out, because we liked everything very much. Everything in the room was left in plain sight: coins, laptop, tablet, phones - nothing was missing.

They also asked for 3 beach towels, which were changed several times for clean ones (for free).

The old CRT TV showed two Russian channels (RTR planet and musicbox).

Wi-Fi in the hotel is paid: an hour is 3 euros, a day is 10 euros, a week is like 35 euros. But in our room, I caught the open network of some nearby hotel (MERMAID) and we used it quite successfully.

Now about food. We had half board (HB), i. e. breakfast and dinner. Dinner can be changed for lunch at least every day.
In the case of a tour, you can take lunch. We liked the food very much. Well, that is, there were no special frills, but there is always a large selection and everything is very tasty. The only thing I did not like was not enough fruit and for dinner / lunch all drinks are paid. For 2 weeks, we ran up for drinks (tea, juice, coffee) 62 euros.

Once we changed dinner for lunch. We liked the evening selection better.

You can eat both indoors and outdoors.

For lunch we went to cafes and restaurants: the average bill is 30-50 euros (you can meet 20 in eateries). Sometimes it was very tasty, sometimes - so-so. I really liked the Ocean Basket (near the pier) sea restaurant.

The hotel has a large swimming pool with fountains and bridges, 2 bars, a playground (bibliosha club), tennis court (rackets and balls - 4 euros), a volleyball court, a gym, slot machines, table tennis (racquets for a deposit of 5 euros).
We practically did not use the pool, as well as the territory of the hotel, since the sea is a minute away! !

Now a little about the beach (it's called like central, Limanaki or Glyky Neron). In our opinion, it is really the best in Ayia Napa. During the rest we visited all the main beaches of Ayia Napa and Protaras, including the famous Nissi Beach. We couldn't find anything better than our beach. A very gentle entrance to the sea, clear blue water, no algae, jellyfish, etc. The sand is fine and clean. There are sun loungers and free space for children on the sand. In general, super! ! !

We did not take excursions from the biblioglobus, as it is expensive and not everyone is suitable with a child. They only took tickets with an open date to the water park and dancing fountains in Protaras - a couple of euros cheaper than buying at the box office. In general, at first there was an idea to rent a car, but then they changed their minds. Through BiblioGlobus it turned out about 40-50 euros / day for the simplest car with a machine gun and insurance.
And also gasoline.

Have used taxi several times. We got to the hotel from Protaras in 15 euros. To the water park - for 8e. To Nissi Beach - even for 4th.

The bus costs 1.5 euros, children under 6 years old are free. Buses caused a double sensation. Firstly, with a full cabin, he passes stops - on the one hand, it’s correct, but what should we do? Secondly, when we were driving from the water park, and this is the bus ring, at the entrance to the bus, our compatriots traditionally created a wild crowd and a fight for seats. After that, there was no desire to once again use the bus.

In general, there are a LOT of Russians. Everyone speaks Russian. Menu, signs - in Russian. As if they never left.

I really liked the AquaPark, including a 3-year-old child. The cost is about 80 euros for three. Plus at the entrance of 5 euros per cell. You can also eat on site.

I also really liked the dancing fountains, but there was one caveat. We had tickets (check) from BiblioGlobus (about 60 euros).
We arrived an hour before the start, but we were told that there were no more places! They suggested going to a late session (22:30) or tomorrow.

The show itself is quite interesting, before the start you can order something from their menu, so it makes no sense to buy tickets with dinner.

We rode on a pirate ship 'Black Pearl' (70s for three) and on a speedboat Galaxy (100s) with a glass bottom. Both of those are great.

Several times visited the amusement park in the very center of the city. The price of the token is 1e (or 12 for 10e). Overall, not bad.

The check-in went quickly (perhaps because we arrived at the hotel at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, and it just starts at 2 o'clock). There was even an impression that we had already been assigned to rooms for a long time. We lived in a bungalow, the so-called garden suite. Large enough room with mini kitchen and free fridge. So that the drinks always remain cold, and the milk does not spoil, we took the second key at the reception and inserted it where it should be, where it remained for all 10 days. There was also an air conditioner, however, during the day it did not work at all for a long time, 10-15 minutes at most, apparently due to the heating of the building. But in the evening - as much as you want.
Small ants were seen in the living room (mainly in the bathroom), they didn’t bother us much, but we didn’t leave food anywhere except the refrigerator. In the evening, mosquitoes could fly in, so it would not be superfluous to take an electric fumigator with you.
The safe is paid, it seems 2 euros per day + a deposit of 10 euros. But we never use it, and leave all valuables and documents in a suitcase, which is under lock and key. And who can hang from your room? Cleaning woman? Scandal then the hotel can not escape, but they hardly need it. Well, if the robbers swoop in, then they should crack this safe or take it with them how to do it!
The sea is very clean and pleasant. The sand is almost white. The coastal part of the bottom is sandy, a little further into the sea - stones with algae, in which various fish hide. An umbrella - 2.5 euros, a sunbed - 2.5 euros, not everyone uses these benefits, but, as usual, half of the population of municipal beaches sunbathe without towels. On the territory of the hotel, sunbeds, of course, are free, there is no need to borrow them early in the morning, there are plenty of free places.
We had half board, so drinks at dinner were chargeable. We absolutely did not want to pay extra for this, therefore, on the recommendation of one of the former vacationers, we did the following: we approached a vat in a restaurant with 3-4 types of diced fruit. They give juice. There is a ladle there. They took it, pressed it down and this juice got into it. They poured it into a bowl. Everything. A delicious and free drink is ready. Or we just came to lunch / dinner with a beach bag, which always included a bottle of water. By the way, if necessary, dinner can be easily changed for lunch, having warned the reception about it the day before.
The food at the hotel is decent and varied. I would like to mention a very tasty ice cream, as many as four types, which were served for lunch and dinner. You can pour some syrup on top of it - delicious!
Internet in the hotel is paid (another extra, unnecessary item of expenditure), but in all the cafes in the city it is free, which, in fact, we used.
The hotel has a tennis court, but rackets are paid: for one racket - 4 euros / day. Therefore, if you have your own, and you are tennis fans, take yours!
From the hotel 15-20 minutes to the street of cafes / bars through numerous shops - not tiring. And there you can already turn off anywhere, there are a lot of people everywhere.
Goods/Products/Shops. Firstly, you should not stock up on a large amount of alcohol in a dutik, it is in Cyprus at the same price (in our country, these products have large import duties, so the price tag soars 2-3 times). There is a large supermarket PLUS (7-10min) not far from the hotel towards the center of Ayia Napa, it is quite decent, it has everything from washing powder and dishes to alcohol and clothes. In it, as well as on the shelves of other stores, you will find good local drinks. The traditional drink "Zivania" is moonshine made from grapes (this is an amateur, of course). Keo beer - also served in many cafes, delicious. Various wines, from 3 euros per pack/bottle. Dessert wine "Commandaria" - sweet, strong, fragrant. I liked dry red wine Κ Ρ Α Σ Ι "KRASI" - 3 euros, as well as Santa Marina wine (s/l) - 4.5 euros. It is cheaper to buy water in packs of 6 bottles of 1.5 liters (about 3 euros for the entire package), and not in 5 liter canisters (3.65 per 1 piece), and even more so not just one 1.5 liter bottle! There are glasses in the room, take an opener with you)
They took for themselves and as a gift: 1. Olive oil. In most shops you will find Greek-made olive oil, but you can also find original Cypriot olive oil. From 4 euros for 250 ml, from 6 euros for 0.5, etc. 2. Honey - has an excellent taste. 3. Soap based on olive. From 1 euro. I think the price tag increases depending on the beauty of the packaging)) 4. From souvenirs, of course, magnets. They are represented by a very large assortment, of different quality and prices - from 1 euro. In general, if you buy souvenirs, it is best to go to the center, it is much cheaper there. No "natural cosmetics based on olives" - creams, gels, etc. did not buy. Because Natural cosmetics do not exist in principle (except perhaps homemade masks from fresh products), only chemistry, the price tag is not small, so why?
Cafes, restaurants. In one of the reviews they read, “that alcoholic drinks in all discos in Ayia Napa are “DO NOT INSERT”. At least you get drunk on them, but you still won't be drunk. And in the morning you will find "SURPRISE". The condition is worse than a hangover, rather poisoning. I don’t know about everyone, of course, but in several establishments we tried different cocktails - they taste very pleasant, but really they don’t insert in any way.
To Nissi Avenue on foot for 20-30 minutes). There is McDuck, KFC, Pizza Hut, etc.
Of the restaurants located near the hotel, we visited only the Mexican Restaurant (distinguished by the presence of huge parrots). Not bad, prices are the same everywhere.
In the Vassas restaurant near the lighthouse, they took Caesar with shrimp - 11 euros and fried squid (which turned out to be breaded) - about 10 euros. The price tag is not small, the quality is lame.
Cool cafe Bedrock, stylized as the Flintstones. In the evening there is live music, a young man plays and sings + the visitors themselves can sing, some arrange dances. We smoked a good hookah there, 10 euros.
Transport
Bus. There is a bus stop next to the hotel, it runs every 20-30 minutes (the schedule was taken at the reception). The cost to nearby destinations is 1-3 euros per person.
You can go to Larnaca - there and back - on the 711 bus.
20min drive to Protaras by bus 101.102 (one of them goes there, the other goes back). We went to the singing fountains on our own, while we didn’t go to the show itself, but walked around the city, because. ticket - 25 euros per person, and on the main street in my city, all this action is absolutely free. True, we managed to watch this hour-long performance from the street (it is clearly visible from some places).
Rent a Car. When you rent a car in Cyprus, insurance is issued, which comes with a franchise and, which is rare, without a franchise. The deductible is the amount you pay if your vehicle is damaged. For example, the franchise amount is 200 euros. If a headlight is broken at a repair cost of 150 euros, you will pay 150 euros. If the bumper is damaged, the repair cost of which will be 500 euros, then you will pay 200 euros, and insurance will cover 300 euros. Insurance without a deductible is more expensive, but the insurance company pays for all damage.
There are many companies offering car rental in Cyprus, there are well-known in Europe Avis and Champion, there are local car rentals. You can book a car in such companies in advance via the Internet, but in this case you need to make an advance payment (from 10% to 100%), so we decided to take the car on the spot for cash. We took a Honda Civic, automatic, for 3 days, in an agency located on the way to the lighthouse, to the right of Avis, a little deeper. It cost us 115 euros with insurance. The franchise was 200 euros. Plus, a full tank of gasoline was filled in - somewhere for 70 euros. They brought us the car the next morning, we made an inspection for damage and took the keys. In the glove compartment of the car, we found a navigator in Russian, which helped us a lot, in case there were problems with orienting on the maps (we typed them in the agency). They took it exactly 3 days later, early in the morning, while simply asking the day before to leave the keys at the reception.
Other transport. The hotel rented bicycles, 8 euros per day. Of course, they are not ice, the wheels are lowered a little (and there is no pump in the hotel), on my chain it fell off a couple of times, but you can ride. It’s just that we had to go very far to rent normal bikes, we met them already driving around the city. They were driven to Cape Greco, a stunning view from the observation deck! Then we went down the path, to the very foot, and along not the most convenient stones we reached the sea in order to swim in a small lagoon, which is clearly visible from above. At first glance, this may seem like a dangerous occupation, but the transparency of the water is magnificent, besides, we had masks, so we cooled there, observing other worlds, magnificent underwater rocks, abruptly breaking off and giving the feeling of flying over the abyss, because the visibility is wonderful. We also drove to the famous Nissi Beach. Moreover, they did not get to it through the city, but along a perfectly laid out path along the sea, which began after the lighthouse, which is also good for evening walks at sunset. I don’t know what this most ordinary beach is so famous for: the same clean water, white sand, quite shallow, darkness for people . . As for me, it’s better to move around the island on something to stop on wild or sparsely populated beaches . .
There are also a lot of rented scooters, buggies, quads.
Learn more about the itinerary by car. General recommendation - obey the brown tourist signs at the entrance to the sights you are looking for, on which these same sights are indicated). And before traveling, mark them all on a large printed map and try to solve the problem of finding the most comfortable way (sometimes we asked the reception staff, hotel guide, etc. for these ways).
1st day. We visited one of the most famous monasteries - Kykkos, where the Orthodox shrine is located - the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, written by the Apostle Luke. The monastery is located very far away, so we left early. Along the way, we decided to stop by a mountain village called Kakopetria. Of the interesting things, we saw colorful houses and a stormy mountain stream flowing through the entire village, forming even a small waterfall. After wandering around the local streets for a bit, we drove on. Somewhere halfway we stumbled upon a pointer to Olympus - the highest point of Cyprus in general and the Troodos (mountain range) in particular, 1952 m. klevtiko - a traditional lamb dish, for only 12 euros - enough for two! ), We got to the monastery.
2nd day. We set off to explore the ruins of the ancient city of Kourion, having previously stopped in Limassol, to the castle of Richard the Lionheart, in which he married his bride in the 12th century. The castle, of course, is small, but nice)) In the traditional English style, nothing more. Wandered inside the castle, climbed onto the roof. Inside we saw medieval weapons, armor, remains of dishes, etc. But the most interesting were the internal passages in the walls, as well as preserved photographs of other castles located throughout Cyprus. Then we headed to the ancient city, at the foot of which is the beach of Kourion, the beach is quite large, and first we decided to swim. Getting to the beach, to the city is a bit difficult, but here one review helped us: “On the way from Limassol, we go towards Paphos along the A6 highway. There will be an exit to Kolossi, we go there, but do not turn left to Kolossi, but drive straight along the B6 highway. We will pass the villages of Erimi and Episkopi. And only then there will be a sign - a turn to the beach of Kourion. After the beach, we finally reached the city of Kourion. We wandered there for a long time, examined the preserved mosaics, the ancient amphitheater. There we talked with one guide, and he said that this is not the whole city, and if we drive a little further and turn right after about a couple of kilometers, then we will find ourselves in another part of it, smaller in size, but no less interesting. Entrance there was paid separately, also 1.7 euros per person.
3rd day. In the morning we went back to Cape Greco (we went there already on bikes, but without a camera), to take wonderful photos until the sun was at its zenith. And then we went to the Blue Lagoon beach, which is located just behind the cape, that is, when you go to the cape, the road goes to the right, and you don’t need to turn to get to the lagoon, keep going. We had a great time there: swimming, sunbathing. Few people - beauty! After lunch, we decided to look at the caves, which are all in the same direction, only a little earlier. Not reaching 200 meters before turning to the cape, there will also be a turn to the right (in general, this place is clearly visible from the cape, from above, cars stop there). You can easily go down to the caves, take pictures, swim in this small cove. There will also be a small platform, benches, sitting on which, drinking delicious Cypriot wine, we watched the sunset.
Excursions. We were on one: Real Cyprus, 55 euros per person, from 7.20 to 17.00. Since we were riding a big bus into the mountains along a serpentine for an hour, it was very seasick. Some pills or icicles won't hurt. The route is next. St. Thekla Convent (the monastery is known for its endless source of healing mud that helps people with skin diseases, which you can collect in a bag, also stock up on a bottle of holy water). Machairas Monastery (in a shop on its territory they bought olive oil made by monks), for everything about everything - an hour of festivities. Then there was lunch with a traditional Cypriot meat meze - quite tasty. The village of Kato Lefkara is famous for its embroidery/lace and silverware. They were given only 10 minutes to walk around the village, but they kept them in the store for half an hour, what to do there? Lace is similar to our Vologda, and not cheap, but there are plenty of silver shops in Ayia Napa, even if you choose to go all day. An olive shop in the village of Skarinu (they didn’t show the village itself, they only brought them to the shop to taste olive oil and buy goods, cosmetics, the choice of which is much smaller than in ordinary stores, and the price is higher! ). When visiting the monasteries, do not forget to cover your shoulders and knees!
