To begin with, in the review I will try to describe as fully, objectively and adequately as possible the whole essence of staying at this hotel, as well as the nuances of the rest of the Dominican Republic. I advise you to read to the end, because for me personally such a review would be very useful when choosing a hotel and I am deeply sorry that there is nothing to return, but it might save your vacation! We went to this country for the first time (and most likely the last), but we have a great tourist experience. Before the trip, we read reviews about this hotel and did not quite understand where the truth was, hoping that the negative ones were just inadequate picky.

Upon arrival, the truth turned out to be the following: THIS IS NOT 5 STARS, it is MAXIMUM 3 stars! In fact, this is a real scam! It seems to me that good reviews about him on the resources are either custom-made, or people simply have not been anywhere except in their Khrushchev with repairs from the times of the USSR.

The territory of the hotel is quite large, green, it is not bad, but everywhere it smells of sewage and clogged lawn sprinklers, which in some places organize a smelling local swamp. Yes, birds walking around are very nice, but not when they are jumping on food at the buffet, walking between tables and begging, and also littering all the paths. The number of rooms is very old, ordinary white hospital-type buildings, without any decor and interior. We were lucky that instead of a standard room, the guy at the reception gave us a free deluxe room on the 3rd floor in building 18, this kind of saved our vacation. It was not great, but at least everything worked for us, the air conditioner and toilet never broke down, it was generally clean, there was no fungus, very comfortable pillows and a bed, a cockroach was seen only once and then quickly kicked out. It's scary to imagine that in standard rooms, judging by the reviews.
It is clear that everyone comes here not for the sake of the hotel, but for the sake of the Caribbean Sea, and here another disappointment awaited us - DO NOT ENTER IT! We thought that sissies were writing about stones and corals, but this is really terrible. Special shoes will help you only partially, army boots are needed here so as not to twist your legs. At first, it was possible to go in half with grief, while there were days of calm, a few days later the waves began and, in addition to the relief, you were still whipped by stones on the ankles with a diameter of up to 10 cm, not pleasant enough. In recent days, apparently because of this, there was absolutely no one on the beach, all the sunbeds were free. We found coral flat slabs on the left side of the beach (if you look at the sea near the Vip zone) and went along them, then got on all fours and tried to swim. Children are not allowed here! For this reason, they swam in the sea once a day, spent the rest of the time by the pool.
We saw people limping and on crutches, I thought the reviews were exaggerating. By the way, sunbeds are more or less normal only by the pool, on the beach they are many with bedsores or broken. The towels are old and washed out, it is unpleasant to lie on them.

Rooms and sunset in the sea, this is far from the worst thing about this hotel. The worst part is THE FOOD! The smell from the main buffet immediately made me understand that good things should not be expected from him. Its main problem is that it's not an air-conditioned enclosed space, it's just a huge bungalow open on all sides. All the food is of terrible quality, lies in 30+ degree heat for hours. She sweats, gets stale, weather-beaten and rotten, almost everything looks disgusting. What doesn't look disgusting also tastes terrible, and even if you find something edible, it will either cause diarrhea or discomfort in your stomach for the next 2-3 hours.

Any meat dishes and cuts after a couple of days, we did not even try to try - it is impossible to eat! Photos of the most terrible masterpieces are attached. In any case, any meal will be a torment, it is hard to stay in the buffet for a long time, especially at lunchtime, due to the fact that it is stuffy and even hotter than outside. Everything that has been lying in the heat goes to the secondary cycle in salad toppings, pizzas, pastas and all kinds of sauces.

For almost 11 days we ate only scrambled eggs, pasta, margarita pizza, vegetables, fruits, pastries, cheese. The a la carte restaurants were twice, in Japanese and Mediterranean. In the first one there was a show from the chef, the food is average, in principle you can eat, in the second there was a delicious steak, fish and dessert, but a terrible carpaccio and salad bar. There was also no talk of any freshly squeezed juices, there was only watermelon working off (from the fact that they apparently didn’t finish it) and some kind of terrible multifruit concentrate. The wine, both white and red, by the way, was also some kind of sour swill.
The only sane drinks are cola and beer, and this is apparently only because they were not prepared in this hotel.

As for the cocktails at the bar, they also leave much to be desired. They are made on the basis of an incomprehensible alcohol called “Classico”, apparently this is something similar to what at one time was sold in cans in the Russian Federation, namely alcohol with flavors and dyes. The funny thing is that Google and the local store in Santo Domingo do not know such a manufacturer. Tequila, rum, vodka, liquors all with the same name and bottle, only labels of different colors. For some reason, they also almost do not have an intoxicating effect, although it is hot outside and poured from the heart. At the reception bar their quality is slightly better and they are poured into glass glasses, but even the cheapest rum and cola on the tour was better than any of them.

And now for the excursions.

This is your only opportunity to see something other than your hotel grounds, in Bayahibe there is nowhere to go and nothing to do, there is absolutely nothing there. Of course, we did not order them through our tour operator ANEX, because we read the reviews and understood that their price / quality ratio would be depressing. On Instagram, we decided to take two excursions and were generally satisfied. We first went to Saona Island, but didn't quite understand why, because I guess it's for more people from Punta Cana, who don't have such a beautiful sea and beach. In fact, it’s purely to take pictures on lying palm trees, have a good bite to eat, drink delicious rum and ride back on a catamaran with music and dancing. The guide was Russian-speaking, quite funny and colorful : )

The second excursion was in Santo Domingo. I strongly advise everyone to take it, visit the caves, the Columbus lighthouse and see the real life of the Dominicans, especially from the funicular over the poorest area of the city.
Guide Karina told us with pleasure about all the sights and features of people's lives in the Dominican Republic.

In conclusion, I want to say that in general, even the terrible food and alcohol, the entrance to the sea, the disgusting service of the Dominicans “to the f*ck off” and the outdated hotel could not overshadow our vacation and we were able to enjoy it, albeit not to the fullest. There is a cool sea, sun, sand, landscapes and sunsets - just choose another hotel and don't be fooled by the price! Only now I understand that the Dominican Republic is cheaper than 200 tr in 4-5 * for 10-14 days for two, it can become a lottery, which, as you can see, we did not win.

I especially want to note the excellent flight from AzurAir. A new boeng where you can stretch your legs, sleep comfortably, there is multimedia in the headrest, USB, a bunch of movies, music and TV shows. We fed twice during the flight, very tasty, constantly handed out drinks, gave a set (pillow, headphones, earplugs, sleep mask). Highly recommend!
