The castle of Lecures rises above the city of Saranda. It is erected on a hill from which a magnificent view of the surroundings opens. There is a legend that the castle was built in the 16th century by order of Suleiman the Magnificent. After the capture of Corfu, the Sultan needed to control the port of Saranda and the road connecting the city with Butrin. Before the construction of the castle, the village of Lekures was located on this site.
Lecures Castle is built in the form of a square and has two round towers located at the corners of the building. To get to the castle, you need to climb the hill. Near the ruins of an ancient castle, a restaurant-copy of the castle was built. Even the walls of the restaurant are made of materials reminiscent of those from which the castle of Lecures was built.

Great place for an evening out

The castle is small but interesting. It's definitely worth a visit. Well, after that, be sure to visit a restaurant stylized as this castle. The restaurant is located at the top of the mountain. From here you have a breathtaking view of Saranda. I recommend visiting in the evening. The beauty of the sunset in this place cannot be described in words). Good food and service.→
