royal garden

Kralovskaya zahrada, Royal Garden
Czech republic, Prague
The royal garden was founded under King Ferdinand I in the 16th century. near Prague Castle. The area of the gardens is 3.6 hectares, and they were designed in the Renaissance style by Italian architects and gardeners. During its 500 years of existence, the garden has changed many roles - its alleys and hundred-year-old trees have survived not only magnificent parades of kings and fun holidays, but also all the hardships of wars, devastation and fires.
Exotic and ornamental trees, shrubs, figs, citrus fruits, cedars, fig trees grew in the garden, and tulips grew here long before they appeared in Holland.
On the territory of the Royal Garden currently there are: the summer palace of Queen Anne, the Ball Game Hall, the greenhouse, the fig garden, the labyrinth, the garden house, the bronze singing fountain, gazebos, sculptures, a pond and a restaurant with a rose garden.

The Royal Garden is a great place to walk above Prague Castle. If you are tired of the crowd of tourists and decided to relax in the shade of trees - you here. You need to go through the whole park, otherwise there will be no complete picture. 1 option from the Summer Park on foot or by tram to the Royal Garden stop, and then through the garden from Queen Anne's Palace. Option 2 - from the second courtyard of Prague Castle, go to the street at the Prague Bridge and the right entrance to the garden, then go in the opposite direction.

Of all the gardens of Prague Castle, the Royal Garden has always been the most elegant, well-groomed and tidy. Until 1534, royal vineyards grew on the site of this large park, located on the north side of the castle. The garden was laid out at the behest of Ferdinand I. The first architect to take part in the creation of a large park complex in the Renaissance style was Giovanni Spatia. All the vineyards were cut down, and seedlings of trees uncharacteristic of the Czech climate were brought into the garden.

Not every traveler knows that there are very beautiful gardens and parks in Prague, it is worth allocating a separate day to visit them, they are located relatively close to each other, so visiting them without rushing at all, and stretching the pleasure for a day. Now the garden is far from being the same, although it is not neglected, the buildings in it are abandoned, it is not popular with tourists. Today I decided to talk about the Royal Garden of Prague There are really a lot of trees for which the garden was created, almost under each there is a sign describing when it was planted, what it is called and some brief information about the species.
