Mainau Island is located in the west of Lake Constance. Despite its small size (only 45 hectares), more than a million tourists visit the island every year. Mainau has a subtropical climate uncharacteristic for this latitude, and in the middle of the 19th century, when the island was the residence of Frederick I, a huge garden with incredibly rich vegetation began to be built here. In the twentieth century, the island passed into the possession of the Bernadotte dynasty, and in 1951 the garden was opened to visitors.

flower paradise №2 in Europe. (№1 - Keukenkoff)
During our visit, the only "-" was the heat. And this despite the fact that we were after 16 hours. And yet this place remains the right floral decoration of Lake Constance, which belongs to three countries. So Germany, Switzerland and Austria can take it to their own address. Although the island itself is located in Germany. In addition, it is privately owned.→

Paradise island in the heart of Lake Constance
The history of the island itself is very diverse, it changed many owners, survived wars and devastation, until it ended up in the ownership of the ancient Bernadotte family (the ruling family of the kingdom of Sweden). It was then that they began to create this piece of paradise in miniature. The main climatic feature of the island of Mainau is its tropical and subtropical climate, uncharacteristic for Europe, in which even rare plants grow like mushrooms after rain. Therefore, now it is a real paradise island with changing exposures, according to the flowering seasons, tropical trees and butterflies.→
