Monument Angel of Peace

Friedensengel, The Monument of Angel of Peace, Friedensengel Column
Germany, Munich
The Angel of Peace Monument was built between 1896 and 1899 by the architects Max Hilmeier, Georg Petzold and Heinrich Duhl. The monument is dedicated to the victory of Germany over France in 1871. The sculpture is a column 38 meters high, on which the soaring bronze goddess of Victory Nike is installed. At the bottom of the monument are portraits of the rulers of Munich at that time - Wilhelm I, Frederick I and Wilhelm II. The colored mosaic depicts War, Peace, Victory and Culture.

The sculptural ensemble appeared at the turn of the century and was dedicated to the victory of Germany in the Franco-Prussian war. The architectural ensemble solved the problem of completing the street. Prinzregentenstrasse, which was conceived in the Florentine-park style. This object is rather from the list of optional attractions in Munich. It's not worth making a special trip, but if you're in the area, take a look anyway.
