István Dobo Square

István Dobo Square is located in the historical center of Eger. The square is named after the famous military Istvan Dobo, who became famous for the heroic defense of the Eger fortress against the Turkish troops in 1552. In 1907, a monument named after Dobo was erected in the center of the square, and in 1967 the composition was supplemented with a sculpture depicting a scene from the history of the defense of the fortress.

Cosy
Nothing has changed since the previous review 8 years ago - the most comfortable area) Not crowded, you do not feel the fuss, only peace, or something. Architectural heritage surrounds almost from all sides - the eyes rejoice. Clean, well maintained, quiet, fountains murmur. The beauty. By the way, there is a drinking fountain on the square, I saw how people collect water and drink, but I did not risk it.→

Urban architecture lovers
The coziest square in the old town. A great place to sit on a bench overlooking several city attractions at once. Here is the medieval Eger Fortress, and the Church of the Minorites, and the monument to Captain Istvan Dobo, and a sculptural composition showing the moment of the clash between the Hungarian horseman and the Turks.→
