Sea of Galilee

Tiberian lake, Kinneret
Israel, Tiberias
The Sea of Galilee is the name given to the freshwater Lake of Tiberias in the northeastern part of Israel, the local name is Lake Kinneret. At 215 m below sea level, the lake is the world's lowest freshwater body of water. The length of the lake is 21 km, the width is 13 km, the area is 161-169 km² depending on the water level, the greatest depth is 43 m. Tiberias.
The Sea of Galilee is Israel's main source of drinking and irrigation water, providing almost a third of the country's fresh water consumption. Here, industrial production of fish has been established, numbering 22 varieties, one of which is tilapia or St. Peter. On the shores of the lake there are hot healing springs, rich in salts and sulfur.
The Sea of Galilee is popular among Christian pilgrims, because Jesus Christ walked along its shores, here he began to preach, met his disciples and followers. Christian places are Capernaum, where Christ lived and preached, Yardenit, where he was baptized, the Franciscan church, the monastery on the Mount of the Sermon on the Mount, the ruins of the Kursi monastery - the place of the miracle of exile demons into a herd of pigs.
At the confluence of the Jordan River, there is an amusement park "Park a Yarden".

It is considered the fourth sea in this country. I will not say that I was completely delighted, as, for example, from the Dead, the Mediterranean or the same Red. I didn't like that my legs sank a lot when you enter the water. And so, the nature is gorgeous - it's hard to break away. I would recommend a visit, but I will say right away that you should not expect something supernatural.

The Lake of Galilee is a special place associated with many Biblical events. This is the taming of the storm, and the miracle of the multiplication of Bread, and the Mount of Beatitudes, and Capernaum, and other shrines. On my channel you can watch a video tour that includes each such place https://youtu. be/8b_T9IbZz88 I recommend choosing a tour that will capture all these holy places as much as possible, since they are all right next to each other. In Capernaum, you can see the house of Peter, or rather the ruins, over which the temple now rises.

The Sea of Galilee, also known as Lake Tiberias and Lake Kinneret, is the largest body of water in Israel with fresh water. Its official dimensions are 23 x 11 km with a depth of up to 45 meters, but now it has dried up quite a bit, the shores have been exposed - for several years Israel has been dominated by drought and streams from the Golan Heights do not make up for the loss. The use of water from the lake is closely monitored and the punishment for illegal use of water will be severe.
