Yardenit is an exit point south of Tiberias, downstream, the Jordan River from the Sea of ​​Galilee, the place of the symbolic rite of baptism of Orthodox and Catholics. The exact location of the baptism of Jesus by St. John the Baptist is located nearby, but in the border zone between Israel and Jordan, so in 1981 Yardenit was chosen by the Israeli government as a ritual site. Yardenit is a diminutive of Yarden, which in Hebrew means Jordan or Jordan River.→
