bahai gardens

Bahai terraces
Israel, Haifa
The Baha'i Gardens are located on Mount Carmel in Haifa and, together with the tomb of the Bab, the prophet who proclaimed the appearance of God's messenger, the founder of the Baha'i teachings, make up the Baha'i World Center complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The terrace gardens were opened to the public in 2001 and consist of 19 terraces, 9 of which lead down from the Shrine of the Báb, located on the tenth terrace, and the other 9 lead upwards.
The Persian-style terraces and flower beds, alleys and lawns with ficuses, olives, miters, eucalyptus trees, Egyptian fig trees and cacti symbolize the most important stages in the life of Baha'u'llah, the founder and prophet of Baha'i. 90 professional gardeners and volunteers are engaged in cutting trees and shrubs, caring for plants. The gardens are decorated with fountains and sculptures, equipped with drinking fountains.
All excursions for visitors are conducted only from the upper terrace to the lower one. It is forbidden to use mobile phones and eat any food.

The Bahai Gardens are a must see for anyone traveling in Israel. You need to know that women should be dressed with dignity: shoulders and knees are covered. Smoking is strictly prohibited, and you need to stock up on water! They will also check the contents of your bags. Personally, the Bahai Gardens struck me with their harmony - everything is thought out in them from and to. How one manages to maintain such beauty is a mystery.

I was lucky to visit this fertile place as part of an excursion. Impressions for a lifetime! The terraces are just incredible. Many colors of different shades and shapes. When we got together, I looked at photos from last year. In this, a slightly different design of the flower beds, but still wonderful. The tour was not long and not through the entire garden, they are not allowed to the very top, but what was shown was enough. I would definitely like to come here next year.

We arrived in Haifa in the evening and were in a hurry to catch an excursion to the Bahai Gardens. But we didn’t have time, as visiting is allowed until 17 hours. However, the view that opened from the upper entrance, and the whole panorama of the bay, did not leave indifferent anyone from our large group. We talked with the guard, who said that today it would be impossible to get into the gardens by any means or requests. But tomorrow it will be possible to go up to a certain level, take a walk, look and take pictures.

The Baha'i teaching is associated with the idea that "Beauty will save the World". It does not reject existing religions and does not oppose itself to them. The tomb of its founder, the Bab, on the slope of Mount Carmel in Haifa is surrounded by 19 terraces according to the number of the first 18 students (they are called the “Letters of the Living”) and their teachers descending from the top of the mountain and covering the tomb in concentric arcs over a kilometer of the slope. The tomb is filled with light and the scent of roses.
