The heart of Bolzano is Walterplatz - a square located in the very center of the old part of the city and bearing the name of the medieval poet Walter Vogelweide. The traditional venue for the Christmas and flower markets. Nearby is the 12th-century Bolzano Cathedral and old buildings that today house cafes and restaurants. And blue (!!! ) poppies grow on a huge flower bed in the center of the square. For the first time in my life I saw this miracle of nature live.
