Street of Porticos

Via dei Portici
Italy, Bolzano
Portico Street is the oldest street in Bolzano. In the Middle Ages, this narrow street was inhabited by Tyrolean merchants who used the porticos (colonnades that frame the gallery at the bottom of the building's facade) to display their goods. At present, Portico Street has not lost its original meaning: there are many shops that sell handicrafts and souvenirs.

From the market originates the most popular and oldest street of Bolzano - Portico Street. It still retains its original commercial function. Both sides of the narrow street are continuous arcades, allowing you to comfortably view all kinds of goods and souvenirs, even in bad weather. Tip - be sure to look at the facades of houses - beautiful paintings and original signs will not leave you indifferent!
