The sculpture of Perseus was created in the years 1545-1554 by the famous sculptor Benvenuto Cellini, commissioned by Duke Cosimo de' Medici. The statue is a bronze figure of Perseus holding the severed head of the Gorgon Medusa. His gaze is fixed on her lifeless body, and in his right hand he holds a sword. The sculpture of Perseus defeating the Gorgon Medusa symbolizes the victory of the Medici family over the Republic. The monument is located in the center, near the Palazzo Vecchio, in the Loggia de Lanzi.

Masterpiece
The most famous work of Benvenuto Cellini as a sculptor and the only original among all the sculptures of the Lancia loggia. From morning till night, summer and winter there are always tourists.→

One of the most convenient places to find other attractions.
