Palazzo Farnese

Palazzo Farnese
Italy, Rome
Palazzo Farnese is located in Piazza Alessandro Farnese, near the Spada Gallery, and is one of the best examples of the Renaissance style. The construction of the palace began in 1511 under the leadership of Antonio da Sangallo the Younger. In 1546, the construction was headed by Michelangelo, adding a huge protruding cornice to the main facade of the building. Giacomo da Vignola had to complete the construction of the palazzo; he created the facade from the side of Via Giulia. For more than a hundred years, the palace has housed the embassy of France.
