Campo de' Fiori square

Campo de' Fiori, Square of Flowers, Field of Flowers, Field of Flowers
Italy, Rome
Campo dei Fiori until the 15th century remained an empty, undeveloped area between the theater of Pompeii and the Tiber River. Later, the area began to be actively developed by the inhabitants of Rome, the first residential buildings and shopping arcades appeared here. Here, in the Middle Ages, executions of heretics and those convicted by the Inquisition were carried out, and in 1600, the philosopher Giordano Bruno was burned alive. In 1889, a monument to an outstanding scientist was erected in the center of the square. Nowadays, there is a market on the square where they sell fresh vegetables and fruits, meat and fish.

This is the most charming part of Rome. It doesn't matter what time of day you get here. Before lunch, stalls with flowers, fruits, sausages, cheese, and after dinner with tables of countless cafes. And the farewell is famous for a sad event. Giordano Bruno was burned here. You can see the monument in the center of the square.
