Alanya fortress

Alanya Kalesi, Alanya Castle
Turkey, Alanya
The medieval fortress is located on a rocky peninsula protruding into the Mediterranean Sea, which protects it from three sides. Most of it was built in the 13th century on top of a hill and surrounded by a 6.5 km long wall with 140 towers. At the very top of the hill, located in its western part, at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level, the ruins of the castle rise. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Seljuk sultan Ala-ad-din Kay-Kubad on the site of earlier fortifications of the Byzantine and Roman periods. The castle had several gates, most of them are now destroyed.
Currently, the fortress has been turned into an open-air museum. Entrance to the castle is paid, but most of the fortress can be viewed for free. The road to the castle is very narrow, but open to traffic. The walk to the top of the hill takes approximately 1 hour.

Traveled by thousands of travelers from all over the world, the fortress has not faded at all and has not lost its attractiveness. And believe me, all the photos that you saw will never compare with the feeling when you see it with your own eyes. You should definitely see it with your own eyes.

Historic sites are always cool, whatever it is. Yes, the fortress does not compare with the castles that you can visit in Europe, but it is attractive in its own way. At least in terms of what an impressive view opens here. Considered the main attraction of the city, many do not hesitate to call Alanya Kalesi the heart of Alanya.

Unusual place, I liked the beautiful views, nature. You can get there by bus on your own, without excursions. Warning: there is a lot of broken glass on the beach nearby, be careful.

Absolutely difficult climb, you need to be in good shoes - this is the time, and at least a little in physical shape. You need to go through the tunnel carefully and be prepared for the fact that there are a lot of bats around! But in the end, most likely you will be satisfied with such an obstacle climb, because the views are unforgettable.

The castle is located at the top, wear comfortable shoes if someone decides to go on foot. But we traveled by car - easier and easier. To enter the fortress you need a ticket, which costs 15TL. Inside the castle, the interior is an amateur, but the views that open from the top are amazing, a must-see if you are already there. Cheap and insanely beautiful.
