About the Lavra and international exchange.

Our day today can be called calm and spiritual. We spent the whole day at the Pochaiv Lavra.

But we started our morning in Brody. We woke up in our Filvarok apartment, Maria met us, and we went for a hearty and delicious breakfast at the Shalena Shkvarka restaurant. It's hard to eat so tasty and filling in the morning, I immediately want to sleep again.

We even managed to drop by the conference in the People's House and then jumped towards Pochaev.

I have never been to the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra and Pochayiv before. But thus better - all impressions are perceived fresh.

It is clear that Pochaev is known as the Pochaiv Lavra.

But this is not the only object in the city, although, of course, much revolves around it.

Once upon a time there was an empty mountain. The monks who fled Kyiv after the invasion of the Tatar-Mongol yoke were forced to hide in various places. Some of them I will send here, found caves and hid. One day they came out of the caves and saw a fire on the mountain and in that fire, right in the center of it was the image of the Mother of God. She pushed off the ground, leaving a mark on the stone and a sign of blessing. And on that mountain the monks found a source. Water rushed from the mountain. So the monks decided to build a temple. At first it was wooden. But gradually people learned about the holy place, about the incredible spring that flows straight from the mountain and began to come and come to this place. This is how the Pochaiv Lavra began to be built. And the monks gave this name because of nostalgia for Kyiv. There is the Pochayna River in Kyiv.

The monks were reminded of these places about Kyiv, about this river and decided to name the place Pochaiv. And since 1240 the temple is mentioned as Pochaiv.

And since 1893 the status of the Lavra has been granted. In total, there are now 3 laurels in Ukraine.

At the moment - this is a large complex: several cathedrals, a bell tower, a water tower, a well, their gardens, bakeries, which provide the laurel with everything you need.

Father Anatoliy gave us a tour of the laurel.

By the way, don't forget that you will need pants, a scarf and a jacket that covers your shoulders. If suddenly there is something, then right at the entrance you can rent, on bail 50 UAH.

We inspected the cathedrals. By the way, do you know how the church differs from the cathedral? Before that, I didn't know how these concepts differed. The cathedral is a combination of two or three churches in one house.

So every church can be a cathedral, but every cathedral has churches.

The largest cathedral in the territory and in all of Western Ukraine is Preobrazhensky. It is brand new, began construction in 2013 and is still under construction. The temple accommodates about 5.000 people. And they started to build it, because everyone is no longer placed in the Trinity Cathedral on holidays and in summer.

Father Anatoly told us many interesting stories, legends, stories of healings in the Lavra. We even managed to drink water, which is collected every day from the same stone where the Mother of God stepped and left a mark. Well, we managed to heal from everything or not, we'll find out later. So far no changes have been felt.

The size of the cathedrals, icons, paintings, lamps in the Lavra is impressive. But what struck us most was the cave of St. Job.

Before entering the cave, you need to leave everything in the storage room, even any small things from your pockets. At first we did not understand why even get a trifle. But in just a minute everything became clear.

Unfortunately, I will not show the photo, it is forbidden to take photos and pictures in caves.

We had to take off our shoes and go to a small hole in the wall. At first I didn't even notice him. And this is the entrance to the cave, where St. Job spent most of his time. And the only entrance. We needed to stretch our arms forward and just dive into the hole. It seemed to me that we would definitely get stuck on the road. But Serhiyko and I dived into the cave. Direct entrance to Narnia. Inside was a very small cave-cell, which can accommodate up to 15 people. But it seemed to me that five of them were already in trouble, and the air was running out very quickly.

For a moment we even believed that we had claustrophobia.

And now we also dive and jump back.

Oh, and it's scary when you don't believe that you can fit between the stones in a small hole. Father Anatoliy said that very fat people dived here, and the skinny ones got stuck. Everything is in our faith.

The monastery has a refectory. There is a free dining room, where you can eat dining room and dining room, where for 6-15 UAH you can eat delicious and hearty.

We were fed lean borscht, delicious dumplings, chebureks with cabbage, buckwheat cutlets and even a cake.

After the Pochaiv Lavra, we were met by a local artist Valentina. And while the rain rustled outside the window, Valentina's pencil rustled on the paper. And we got our portraits.

And in the evening we went to an unusual meeting - English Speaking Club.

A local activist and owner of the Dynasty café , where French cakes and pastries are very tasty, organizes meetings in English for schoolchildren. He also plans to hold such meetings for adults soon so that people can come, communicate in English, improve their knowledge, not be afraid to talk and broaden their horizons. And it's very cool! This should be done in every city, in every village.

Now Timmy from Hong Kong has come to Pochayev under the AISIEC program and local students can talk to a native speaker, learn interesting facts about travel, about such a distant and attractive Hong Kong.

Two hours flew by in one go while we talked in English about travel, the need for English, different blogging and online options.

It was very nice to realize that maybe our words, impressions and stories will motivate these guys to move, explore the world, explore their country.

And in the last hours of this day we arrived in just a crazy place - the complex "Family Nest". It's just a top in our places to spend the night. We were given a huge two-story house, each with its own room, shower, beautiful design, cozy interior and it is clear that everything is done with love for people.

I'm sure we will replenish our forces here quickly.
