Good afternoon!!!
We would like to tell you about our vacation in Cyprus (Ayia Napa). My husband and I rested from 10/11/2009 - 10/18/2009 at the Mellissi beach 4 * hotel.
We really liked the hotel, in any case, it pulls on its 4 stars. Small but cozy rooms in blue and yellow colors, a large joint bed, but the mattress is not solid, two armchairs with a table, a small balcony with plastic furniture (a table and two chairs). The view from our room overlooked the pool and the sea (we paid extra for this from our tour operator). We had half board - breakfast and dinner, but we changed dinner for lunch, and in the evening we dined at the restaurants of Ayia Napa. Breakfasts and lunches - buffet. In principle, there is everything that people eat for breakfast: scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, meat, cheese cuts, steamed vegetables, cottage cheese with sour cream, yogurt, various jams, honey, canned fruits, toast, muesli, tea, coffee, coffee with milk, juice. The only thing missing was cereals and spring rolls (I sometimes eat it for breakfast), fruits (bananas, apples, rubber peaches, grapes are not sweet). For lunch (they call it lunch) there was: meat (chops), fish in batter, chicken, vermicelli, a couple of kinds of salads, vegetable, cheese, cold cuts, some baked goods (a couple of kinds). There are two bars. During the day there is a bar near the pool, and in the evening there is a bar in the hotel lobby. The menu includes cocktails, various drinks. Both bartenders are awesome. Near the pool, it seems, the name is Joseph, and in the lobby of the hotel everyone called the bartender “Big Man”. Very nice swimming pool. I would like to pay attention to the beach. We were also lucky with the beach: white sand, excellent bottom, good coast. When my husband and I walked along the coast, there were already pebbles on the neighboring beaches in some places, and there were sandbags in the water to go into the water along them. The only thing that overshadowed my husband was the path from the hotel to the beach itself. It is completely made of sand and when you walk on it, your feet sink into the sand. Going down is cool, but going back up is already hard. You can imagine how hot sand is in August, for example, or in July and it is impossible to walk on it. On the beach, umbrellas and sun loungers are paid, all for 2.5 euros. We did not buy an umbrella or a sun lounger, but settled down on the sand. The reception provides beach and pool towels that can be changed every day. On hotel towels, we lay on the sand, and wiped ourselves with our own (homemade). The room was cleaned every day. Bathroom: bath, sink, toilet. Give out a small shampoo, shower gel, cap and soap. There were few Russians in the hotel, mostly Germans and British. The staff is friendly. There is a Russian girl Alla at the reception, her advice helped us a lot. She gave us a map of the city and suggested some good restaurants. When we chose a hotel, we did not consider its location (we thought that all hotels are located in the center). But then we saw how well our hotel is located (10 minutes walk to the city center). A 5-minute walk is a supermarket, baptized by her husband as "Magnet". Everything you need is there and much cheaper. The only "misunderstanding" arising from the location of the hotel is that on the tour you are taken first and then collect tourists from other hotels, and return last.

About excursions. We knew that they were all "stretched". 1 hour for attractions and the rest of the time for souvenir shops. Therefore, they took only two: Cypriot donkeys and a sea safari. On donkeys it was really cool. I recommend to everyone shoes with “backs” so as not to lose them, and longer shorts so as not to rub the “thighs”. It is a pity that donkey riding is only 40 minutes, and then as much as 1.5 hours to buy souvenirs. Souvenirs were not "sucked in" on a sea safari. It was cool: swimming in the sea, jumping from a boat. True, we never saw the sunken ferry Zenobia. In the windows at the bottom of the boat, only the reflection of the ceiling was visible.
I want to remind you that Ayia Napa is a resort town and all restaurants and cafes are designed for your “one visit”. After all, you will try to go to different restaurants in order to try more different foods. On the first evening we met local guys Vitalik and Inna. They also had a lot to say and gave advice. From the restaurants we recommend "Fiji" - Polynesian cuisine (a little spicy, but very original), "Los Bandidos" - Mexican cuisine (always packed to capacity, at the end of the meal they give fake guns (sawed-off shotguns) and a sombrero to take a picture), "Akaido" - Japanese cuisine (two Asians cook in front of you on a hot table: jokes, jokes, juggling with knives, shovels, products. Fun, only their humor is special - “not Russian”, but still cool.
And, of course, a separate item about the "Anapa" discos. They start at 2300 in bars where the sound "goes out" to the street. All discos are located on Dance Street. The most cheerful "Senior Frog", "Red Square", "Jasmine", "Bedrock" and others. We always hung out in the "Frog". After 2 am, these discos close and open nightclubs that are underground so that the sound is not heard on the streets. They work until 5 am. We went to Castle. After 5 in the morning, the bars “After party” open - they are up to 7. We didn’t have enough strength for such. And here it is important where your hotel is located. Take a taxi or walk a few kilometers. Therefore, lovers of nightlife should choose a hotel closer to the center of Ayia Napa.
Yes! And the most important thing!! ! Know and always remember that alcoholic drinks in all discos in Ayia Napa are "DO NOT INSERT". At least you get drunk on them, but you still won't be drunk. And in the morning you will find "SURPRISE". The condition is worse than a hangover, rather poisoning.
Well that's all! Everyone is happy!
