That's all! Although the hotel is supposedly 4 stars)))
Cleaning of the rooms (including the replacement of linen, towels) will be good if you pay a little extra to the cleaners)) periodically.
You need to pay extra for everything: for a safe in the room, for ordinary water at dinner (okay, other drinks), for cleaning (I repeat), for a sea view (even if this view is paid in advance on the ticket), for the Internet, that is, Wi -Fi. He even paid at the reception! in a 4* hotel! People from other hotels were wondering if this hotel really has paid Internet and they rounded their eyes very much when they heard the answer "yes", especially about the reception.
Of particular note is the food! I had a friend in this hotel last year, she says then it was good. But in this, almost everything is inedible (even for dinner) and monotonous (for breakfast, for example, only eggs, eggs and eggs))) the cooks clearly do not know how to cook, with the exception of two or three dishes (this will be your buffet)) ) for 7 days it was already problematic)))
The hotel itself with a very small area and a swimming pool, as in 2-3 *. Beach towels are issued every 3 days, not earlier.
Conclusion: the hotel is very expensive, but does not match its price and category! There are better options for less money!
A total disappointment. Fortunately, the sea (it is beautiful) and the climate partly compensated for this.
I will say right away - the hotel was pleasantly surprised, new, strong. I liked the rest in general.
For those who are interested, read my story for more details.
The flight is quite tireless, scheduled by Aeroflot, the only minus is that it is very early, the departure is at 6 in the morning, we hardly slept at night, we were boiled all day. But we flew to Cyprus early, so the whole day was ours. Taking a nap on an airplane is also unrealistic - a lot of flying with children, noise and noise, and the flight is fast, only 3 hours and you are there.
At the airport, everything went quickly, showed the provisions - they put a stamp in the passport, the luggage was already leaving the tape, we quickly got out, took the buses and drove off. Everything is clearly organized. Drive to the resort for about forty minutes, with stops at bigger hotels. The views along the way were not very impressive. Scorched fields, a minimum of greenery. At first they were upset.
Protaras is a young resort, somewhat on the outskirts of Cyprus, after it there is only Turkish territory. A ten-minute drive away is the famous Ayia Napa, where we once went by taxi for a walk in the evening. In fact, we had almost the same thing. Walking street with restaurants, shops, where in the evening all the tourists wandered back and forth. But in this Ayia Napa there were no dancing fountains. A pleasure that I advise you not to miss! Inexpensive, but beautiful and impressive. Of the sights in Protaras, there is a church on the mountain. And that's it. Friends went to the dolphinarium, returned without much enthusiasm, so we decided not to go there.
We went on a Grand Tour excursion to the mountains with a visit to the Kykkos monastery. It's not to be missed! A miraculous icon, wonderful views, greenery, even pine trees, coolness - Cyprus, it can be completely different. Too bad it's only so far away. The tour is very interesting, but quite tiring. There is a small serpentine in the mountains. In short, we didn't go anywhere else.
The main purpose of the trip is the sea, air, sun. This is in order! There is a lot of sun, even too much. The sea is magical. Very warm, salty, clean. Excellent sea. The sand is pleasant and light. Only here are the municipal beaches, you take a sunbed and an umbrella - pay. The same sunbeds and umbrella on site - free of charge. The territories are not very large, it is not like in Turkey or Egypt. Everything is close, all hotels are next to each other.
Food is also not like in Turkey. There were no strings of all kinds of dishes. The Turks spoiled us. By Turkish standards, food in Cyprus is quite modest. But everything is delicious and fresh. Breakfasts are standard, tea-coffee-juice is free, water-wine is already paid for dinner. We bought wine in the supermarket and "caught up" in the room on the balcony. I recommend: "Saint Panteleimon" and "Cisbi" are white semi-sweet, from red I liked "Othello", dry wine. In general, wines in Cyprus are pleasant. We also bought a local liqueur "Commandaria" - did not like it, sickly sweet. The local beer "Keo" is also very worthy. A couple of times we skipped dinner and went to a tavern for Greek cuisine. Portions are huge. And their meze is generally something that is impossible to eat. Carry, carry and carry. you can no longer - and they carry everything! We also liked frappe here - this is such a cold coffee with ice. Refreshing in the heat.
There are a lot of Russians in the hotel, in Protaras and in Cyprus. Probably more than even the British, the former "owners" of the island. The menu is in Russian everywhere, Russian restaurants with borscht and dumplings, fur coats, apartments, real estate. What is not here. Many of ours work in the hotel, as well as fellow Slavs - Poles, Czechs, Slovaks.
Our hotel was in the center of the resort. This is both a plus and a minus. Plus - everything is nearby, you seem to be in the thick of things all the time. Only now, closer to the night, this thickness begins to interfere - it was quite noisy.
During the two weeks of stay, the weather was good all the time, the sun every day. It's hot, but there are air conditioners everywhere. I can’t even believe that it rains here, and there is snow in the mountains. The sun was constantly shining. So there is no tricks with the weather!
I hope my story will help someone with a choice.
Have a good rest and great impressions!
What was not pleasantly surprised - dirty, and mediocre cleaning.
Food: not so hot, breakfasts are monotonous, but tasty. Dinners are better. Lunches are fast food.
Beach and sea: right here. I have never seen such a sea. Pure, stunning azure color. But cold. Degrees 20 - 21. Local said that this is nonsense for this time. Usually they have 25-26. We swam 2 times a day. The beaches are clean too. 2 sun loungers with an umbrella - 7.5 euros per day. But you can sunbathe on the sun loungers on the grass. It's 2 meters from the beach and it's free. All kinds of entertainment nearby - boats, parachutes, etc. There are a lot of Cypriots at the weekend. But we weren't bothered. there was enough space for everyone.
service: the level is quite high.
Tourists: The hotel is mostly English and German. Many with children. There were few Russians.
entertainment: in the hotel - water volleyball, live music in the evenings. But in the evenings we went to taverns and restaurants. In Protoras, these are mostly English bars. There are few Russian-speaking waiters. Prices are moderate. For 50 euros you can have a delicious meal with wine. We went to Ai-anapa. It's just a paradise for partygoers. We found a Russian restaurant - karaoke. It's called Teremok. 1 song - 8 euros. Nice place. Taxi from Protoras to Ai-anapa - 15 euros.
Wine: Inexpensive and mostly good. Liked: Othello and Camandaria.
Spending: 1200 euros spent in 7 days. It's with souvenirs. Virtually nothing was denied.
Bottom line: the hotel is average, I liked Cyprus. But I probably won’t go again, because for the same money I could have a rest in the same Turkey in the ultra.
in the hotel - Czechs, Slovaks and Poles. Russian is understood and friendly. The restaurant and cuisine are excellent, a very large selection of dishes and fruits. Drinks are free only in the morning. We regretted that we took dinners at the hotel. There are so many restaurants and taverns nearby that you can't visit them all in a vacation. And what kind of gastronomic temptation is this song.
Prices are slightly lower than European ones, but the amount of food on the plate is beyond praise. I'm not talking about quality. The weather was great. 28 degrees every day. The sea is cool in the morning, warmed up by 11 o'clock and was very comfortable. The rating of the hotel is 4 with a plus. Protfras resort village, small and good for that. It has everything you need for vacationers at sea. The shops. restaurants, bars, tour. agencies and even a daily light and music show
"Dancing Fountains" - pleasure 19 euros. Worth your money, you won't regret it. It is better to take excursions around the country on the street, and not from a tour operator. The guides are the same, but the price is 20 percent higher. We went to the Turkish side of Cyprus and the mountains. Excursions were called: Famagusta-Kerinia; Suite grand tour. The first is 65 euros, the second is 45. I liked both. But they also have disadvantages. As always, they are delivered to stores where prices are higher. You can safely not buy anything from them. Of the souvenirs, I noticed the lowest prices at the Kykkos monastery.
It is a must to visit there. The most beautiful places, because the mountains. The resort of Protaras, as I understand it, is one of the best in Cyprus. There are good beaches. In other places, pebbles interspersed with dirty sand. Or imported sand. We had a good rest, checked ourselves in, but I would not go to Cyprus several times, as some do. Many countries are more interesting. Who are tired of Turkey and Egypt, you can go once. Prothorasu's score is a solid 5. The country's score is a 4. Cyprus is a former English colony, so everyone speaks English. No problem. Vacationers in the country: 60 percent British, 15 percent. - Germans, then Russians, Ukrainians, Slovaks, Czechs. Holiday score -4. Pros: close, warm, tasty, inexpensive. Cons: no nature, small beaches, a lot of people. Good luck to all!
