Five in Egyptian
Finally got the opportunity to leave a review about Albatross! I decided to compile it like this. At the beginning of the review, summarize in general terms the impressions about the hotel. And if someone is interested in something in detail, everything is described below point by point from and to! I hope this information will help you to some extent for general information if you are going to go to Egypt and are considering this hotel as an option!
The hotel is big - as everyone says for Egypt, it's not even bad. The public of the hotel consists of numerous Italians, Ukrainians, Moldovans, Belarusians and Kazakhstanis. The hotel was built in 2004 with a partial renovation - which is translated - half of the rooms are in order and very modern, and some are generally in a shabby state, and here the lottery and your perseverance decide. If the number is screwed up feel free to demand an adequate one. The hotel is almost always packed to the eyeballs - shakes to the fullest and often stands on the foot! But despite this, there are signs of savings - which for us, as consumers, was a little dumb (the napkins are outstanding almost piece by piece - and everything seems to be in everything - but a lot for show). You will not stay hungry in it - everything is of high quality and tasty - but there is no way with variety in it - everything is the same every day. But you will be pleased with awesome Italian pizzas, not bad fast foods. There are also plenty of meat dishes from beef and camel meat - but that's all the same. Wednesday fish day - they gave us shrimp! There are fruits, but more for show - as well as ice cream and melon juices! Alcohol is weak. More or less bottled beer and pure local vodka in its purest form! Lots of pools. There are water slides. At sea, despite the lively coral reef rich in marine life, due to the wind, access is very limited in time - usually (2-3 hours in the evening before sunset). The staff is generally not bad - friendly for the most part. The girl sitting at the table with a computer next to the reception desk is following the administrative issues (Olesya, in my opinion). Really solves all questions. Don't hesitate to contact her with your questions. It really works - and will give catching up to negligent staff at your signal. Animation is weak. Although there is! In general, probably the hotel for Egypt is not even very bad, but it loses on points, for example, to any Turkish good five. Although we were immediately warned that there was no need to compare Turkey and Egypt - these are two different countries! Here, even in the mentality of the Egyptians, it's a matter. Somehow they are all careless - what can I say if 30 percent of the cars fly along the highway without headlights at a speed of more than 100 km per hour without worrying about the consequences. If they ask me - I will go to Egypt again - I will answer - probably not! Or some other time!

1) WHY WAS THIS HOTEL WAS CHOSEN?!
My wife and I have already been to Turkey three times in hotels of different levels (the first time in the top four, twice in very good fives) and we are fed up with Turkey for good - I wanted to try to go to a new country for us to swim and see - a new sea for us! And the main condition was not to miss the choice of a hotel in order to go and not be disappointed. Therefore, almost all standing fives in Sharm were carefully and meticulously shoveled (according to reviews on turpravda, top hotols, etc. ). Plus, the recommendations of friends and acquaintances who have already rested in this hotel not so long ago before us! The hotel turned out to be far from the cheapest of the options - but it seems like with relatively good reviews and recommendations - FOR EGYPT!
2) FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE COUNTRY AND THE HOTEL!
TRANSVER
Not a big airport, a dusty unwashed transfer from the plane to the airport building, the mandatory filling out of a questionnaire upon arrival in the country - you can do it yourself without much difficulty, having only a pen with you and without paying the guides extra for filling it out by entering your data! Window for the sale of visas for 25 bucks per person - if you are going to go to the pyramids - buy it yourself without intermediaries - it's not difficult! Then a bus to the hotel with an obsessive Egyptian guide demanding attention to his person and setting you up to buy tours only in his company!
ABOUT THE HOTEL AND ACCOMMODATION IN IT
The hotel is very large divided into buildings. The most convenient geographically is the active zone. If you settle on the outskirts - wake up to burn a lot of calories - walking. On the first night, I even got lost, and only on the 4th day I began to figure out how and where to go faster! The cases and curls of the cases are too similar to each other - therefore it is not very convenient for a beginner to navigate in them!

A lot of sofas at the entrance, fresh flowers on the tables, the reception desk - passports - a boy driving to the room carrying your suitcase! And here it is NOT NECESSARY to HURRY up and give him a dollar ahead of time! Tip - first ask to show you the number and if it is acceptable for you from all the ones you have viewed - then call in. The feature of the hotel is that part of the room stock is generally in superb condition with a fresh renovation - and part is just ushatany or partially renovated! (the room can have a large TV, a good bed - and a door and a closet broken into the trash - this gives the impression that the door was knocked out with this closet - fresh arrivals can be shoved into such rooms, counting on what will go wrong! But many complain and they are transferred to more acceptable rooms - some with swearing, and some for an additional fee! We got a mediocre room with a good bed - a telecom large bathroom - but the tile in the bathroom was half square scary like in savdepa and the furniture was shaky and old. The ceiling was a hundred times whitewashed - like at my grandmother's in a private house. But I caught Wi-Fi well - the password for which each time I had to enter the password - "thanks to the IT specialists of the hotel for thoughtfulness in the details" !
NUTRITION
There are several restaurants in the hotel - all located on the same floor - but they all have almost the same dishes with a slight difference. And to find this difference, you have to walk a lot through all the halls until you find and pick up something tasty on your plate. (probably this is more minus than plus)!
The feeder is very tasty and of high quality - the chefs cook almost the same thing every day - everything is on stream - according to the knurling and according to the scenario - the food cannot be called varied - and this is a big minus!
BREAKFASTS LUNCHES AND DINKS
BREAKFAST - Boiled eggs, fried scrambled eggs with ingredients of your choice, cereals, fruits (dates, apples, orange slices), jams, fried pancakes, croissants, sweets, different types of bread, cheeses - cheap cheese products - more for show.
LUNCH - Lots of meat dishes - mostly beef (camel meat), chicken, pasta - Italian - not bad, pastas, fried fish without bones - in batter (I really liked), french fries are always in abundance, fish fried balls, mashed potatoes, etc. ! Awesome delicious pizzas are prepared in two restaurants. In one large (for a company) - in the other small (for one)! They make to order from whatever you want and which one you want from the proposed ingredients within 5 minutes!
DINNER - Grilled in two restaurants every day (chicken, laluquebaby, meat), many meat dishes, fried squids were cooked every day (unfortunately it was the only everyday seafood dish besides fried fish). Delicious dumplings straight from the oven. Pasta - spaghetti pasta!
CHILDREN'S MENU - the restaurant has it - albeit a small plus - this children's menu is also suitable for people who suffer from heartburn, gastritis or ulcers!

FRUITS, VEGETABLES, SWEETS, FRESH Fruits (oranges, apples, bananas, melons, dates, we gave figs and mangoes a couple of times - as well as watermelons ((- fruits are quite edible, but not of the highest and most delicious varieties) "Vegetables are chopped right in the dining room in front of you by a person with a board and laid out on shelves - it's cool and everything is as fresh as possible! Olives are so-so - there were but - you can't name the highest grades! Sweets are mediocre - more for show. But this is probably not a hotel problem - and the specifics of Egyptian sweets - pastry cakes, etc. - they get tired of Turkish! Fresh - every morning - from a melon - but only unfortunately from a melon! ((- more for show that they are in general in the hotel!
SNACK BAR
Located not far from the beach - a real McDonald's and CFS - Fried fish in batter, fried chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs. French fries galore, ketchup, mustard, chili all to taste! In general, a cool bar - everything is very tasty! Purely for lovers of fresh hot fast food. It went very well!
COLUMBUS BAR - COFFEE BAR with cakes and coffee drinks - they make coffee, coffee cocktails - you can take cakes from the counter - but the coffee is average as well as the cakes! Coffee machines cook tastier than people with Turks)!
ICE CREAM
Ice cream was served next to the billiard room - but there are only 4 types of water-based Nestle brands - red, yellow, green and white! Nothing special is a movepick - but for show it is in this hotel and will undress from 12 to 17.00 if I'm not mistaken!
ALCOHOL DRINKS AND BARS
All alcohol is of poor quality, as are drinks. Roma, vodka, tequila, etc. Soft drinks are usually jupiform. But sometimes in some bars juice is poured from tetrapacks - (not bad). Especially tasty tomato juice - it is clear that it is real! Bars are the same everywhere. With the exception of the sports bar, which is always cool and the surroundings are conducive to sitting. Beer - beer in the hotel of two types - draft and bottled - PIRONI. Draft, as in Turkey, is completely non-alcoholic. I liked bottled in glass more - 5 turns were written on the bottle - but in fact it was not particularly catchy - but it was nice that the bottle was opened in front of you and poured into a glass. I preferred it to draft! Recommendation - take seeds and a beer snack from home with you or buy at the local bazaar - 100 grams of seeds will cost you no more than $ 1!
STAFF

The reception team - about her neutral impressions - not good, not bad - behaved quite politely! There is a table next to the reception - at which a Russian girl works every day from 9 am to evening - in my opinion Olesya! That's just it and solves all the questions that you may have. Not cleaned in the room - to her! Rude staff - to her! What is broken or not satisfied - to her! Even just for advice on where to buy something and how to get there - you can tell if you ask politely! In general, it's good that the hotel has such a person - because I have not seen this in other hotels!
Cleaners - were polite - but cleaned with varying degrees of success - but they are afraid of piss-in from the management - you can tell them directly, or you can also through the aforementioned girl at the reception - if you don’t see the results - they are being chased and they are afraid of it!
Bartenders - to be honest - bartenders have little idea about cocktails - they even make bloody Mary anyhow and anyhow. To be honest, one dude in a sports bar pissed me off - a young, tall, blue-eyed Arab with an erased appearance! Yazvil behaved like a brotherly - he laughed when he was asked to make a non-standard cocktail for him! - but in any hotel you can find a boor in the staff - which can spoil the mood!
SEA, PIERCE, BEACH

The hotel is located in the very windy bay of Nabq Bay - the key word is WINDY! Because of this, a red flag almost always hangs on the pier - and we were allowed water only from 15.00 to 17.00. The pier is almost a kilometer long. And all you can afford during the day is to swim in (a paddling pool or a noble puddle - the guys from Belarus we met at the hotel called the paddling pool) these are ladders into the water from the pier - the depth in this paddling pool depends on uncontrolled ebb and flow in during the day - but it never rose higher than 1 m 20 cm - but it fell almost knee-deep! The water is very warm and drowning in it - you have to try))) - 40 grams of salt per liter of water - will keep you afloat in any situation! ) In the evening - when the green flag was still cheerful, we were released onto the caral reef - but the allowed space was fenced with buoys there were very few - a bunch of people either coming out of the water or entering the water interfered with each other! And for this reason, it was a little crowded in the water - plus strong waves due to the windiness of the bay mixed tourists and fish in the water)! The caral reef in the hotel is alive and therefore the fish there were different - mostly blue surgeon fish, soldier fish, butterflies, twice I saw a lionfish in this water corral - and it peacefully swam half a meter below the flopping feet of floating tourists, and the second time it sat at the bottom without touching anyone. Advice to vacationers without a mask and slippers - do not dive into the water - with a mask it is more beautiful and most importantly - always look under your feet !! ! (The cost of a mask on the market is from 15 to 25 dollars, the cost of karalok is from 2.5 to 5 bucks, depending on how you bargain). No one will attack you just like that in these waters - the fish behave calmly peacefully, go about their business - but you can easily step on a hedgehog - and this wakes up a whole problem for you. They must be cleaned there every morning by rescuers, but practice has shown that they do not always do this. Personally, I called the lifeguard twice to remove the hedgehogs once from the fenced area for swimming, and the second time, two hedgehogs sat right on the metal steps of the stairs in the morning, along which the entire hotel descends into the water. And by some miracle, no one stepped on them - until they were removed by a lifeguard!
The beach - for 100 meters from entering the water - the water height does not exceed 20 cm, and either with tides or ebb its level drops - therefore, you will not see the usual beach in the understanding - for example, as in Turkey, you will not see it in this hotel - and enter the water from it or Walking in such shallow water is not recommended. In such shallow water, there are many poisonous snakes - bloated poisonous fish and small moose - which I myself have repeatedly observed while walking along the kilometer-long pier to the dive site! Many people feed fish with faithful eggs from their hands - also a controversial pleasure)) I preferred to look at such people swimming in a mask a little from the side and the risk is minimal and there are a lot of fish)! And another tip - in the shade under the pier and the pier area. Fish hide from the sun during the day under its shadow. Many climb there - to get into their kingdom - to swim among them and look at them closer! For example, I avoided doing this - because in such a shade under the pier you can run into a moray eel and a snake and a hedgehog and just a boxy brown - bloated fish with blue dots - the slime of the body of which is very toxic and poisonous - leaves serious burns on the body - someone even said that under the pier in the shade they even saw a lionfish during the day - I think it’s generally not worth touching with it)) if life is expensive! I also saw dudes climbing into the water at night - who were chased by rescuers - a very reckless decision - it’s not for nothing that at night, according to Egyptian law, you can’t even climb into the water - marine life begins there for marine life - and all predators are active and are in aggression and attack mode! In general, you don’t need to be afraid of anyone - but a mask, carols are a mandatory attribute that should not be neglected and do not climb into the water after 6 pm. And the sunset comes at exactly 6 o'clock!
POOLS & WATERSLIDES
There are a lot of pools both in the active zone and in the closed zone of the buildings. Animators carry out all sorts of fitness movements in the water. For example, I am not a fan of pools - because I come to the sea for the sake of the sea - so I tried only water slides. At their expense - they work every day - many children and adults - rescuers monitor - control and dose the descents so that there are no accidents and collisions during the descent. In general, it’s quite for yourself - you can ride if you have children or a desire to diversify your vacation. For show, I tried!

ANIMATION - Of the animators, several Egyptian men and Russian girls - the animation itself - especially the evening one insofar as it is more for show, a children's disco - on a small stage with the inscription show, the time-evening was no different - stupid drawings of paid lotteries with incomprehensible prizes for discounts in beauty salon or local shop on site. Latin dances of local obscure dancers. And a curtain an hour after the start of the adult program! In general, the local Egyptian animators, it seemed to me, consider themselves to be prohavanym - almost PERFECT - in our mentality and jokes. But they often don't get into the general public! ))) so I would like to recommend the hotel administration to hire more Russian-speaking staff in this area!
EXCURSIONS AND BAZARS
Excursions - it's not a secret for anyone that excursions are much cheaper on the street (in any country) - there are several local tour operators "Cheburashka and Gena", "Royal" and so on at the local market near the hotel. But even bargain in them - while they tell you about excursions - they can draw a new price on top of the old one with a pen on a photocopy of the price list right in front of you - from 5 to 10 dollars more expensive - as it was in my experience. As for the choice of excursion, it's up to you. But it’s hard to call these guys too obligatory - for example, I bought a tour in the Royal but no one came for us at the appointed time (forgot about us) I had to go to this travel agency (fortunately it is located next to the hotel) - make some noise there - and only after that for we arrived passenger tayotka and my wife and I were personally taken on a tour! And the guys from Belarus said that they forgot to pick them up from the excursion in the same way, and they and those who were with them had to take a taxi to the hotel! Most likely, this is an isolated case - but this happened - and in Turkey we did not observe such holes with service and punctuality even in street tour operators.
Bazaars - since the animation at the hotel left much to be desired as evening entertainment, we used trips to the markets - we traveled all the main ones - were in Soho, Nayami Bay, etc. Calling a taxi or catching a taxi is a little expensive - they ask up to 30 bucks for a car. But the little blue Tayot minibuses plying on the way back and forth cost 4 or 5 pounds per person for the locals (depending on the distance of the trip) - they take a dollar per person from tourists (which is also not expensive) and take them where you need to go. Just negotiate the price per person right away. And it may turn out so that you agree on 5 dollars - and when you exit the car they will demand 5 for each !!! ! Everywhere in the markets there was one and the same thing, all Chinese things and, as a rule, from the skin of a young leatherette or pressed leather - so they didn’t really buy anything - except for mangoes and pomegranates! I recommend a trip to Soho - an amazingly beautiful place - there is a place to take pictures, a lot of figurines - singing fountains, pure order and surroundings! Most likely, the government of a not rich country - before the crisis, decided to make a spectacularly beautiful and civilized place to attract tourists, and they did it at the expense of local taxpayers))! As for where you can buy all sorts of little things cheaper, including carols, souvenirs, sweets - this is George Clooney - this is the name of a shop two blocks from the hotel. Its advantages are that the owner of the shop lowers prices compared to other nearby shops and organizes free transport to and from his shop - while you do not have to buy anything from him. You can contact him by viber - I don’t remember the number - but I think it’s not difficult to find in Google - souvenir mugs, pomegranate sweets and mangoes we bought from him for only a dollar per kg - in general, cheaper than sold on the market!
