Lake Kournas is the largest freshwater lake in Crete. It is located near the town of Georgioupoli, 20 km from Rethymno. The depth of the lake reaches 25 meters. Lake Kournas is famous for its clear warm water and a small sandy beach. An asphalt road passes near the lake, shops and taverns are located.
