How many excursions outside of Prague should be planned?
Good afternoon! I would like to know the opinion of tourists who have already visited the Czech Republic. In June, we are going to go to Prague with a young man for 9 nights (it turns out to be a full 8 days). In the Czech Republic for the first time, so it is very difficult to make a choice in favor of certain field trips. At the moment we are planning excursions:
1) Dresden and Königstein
2) Moravian Kras and Pernstein Castle
3) Czech Kurumlov
All these excursions are for the whole day (11-12 hours). That is, we will be able to see Prague these days only in the evening and at night (if we have strength left). So the question is: Is it worth planning so many excursions, or at least one should be excluded in order to have time to enjoy Prague itself?

Prague is actually not a very big city. In 3 days you will see everything there if you make a route for yourself in advance. During this period we looked at everything, were everywhere, went to Dresden, Karlovy Vary and celebrated Christmas and New Year for 2 days.

I think in 5 days (those that are free from excursions) you will be able to see all the beauties of the city of Prague. Three days were enough for us, though we didn’t go to museums and exhibitions.

Yes, I think all your excursions should be planned. For a not very in-depth inspection of Prague, 4 days is enough.

I would not really recommend the Dresden or Vienna option. Tours are not bad. But the tour itself turns out to be no more than 3 hours, what is there, what is there, and the road is very long and exhausting. But I would definitely recommend all other full-day excursions in the Czech Republic. There are always a few more interesting stops along the route.
Your vacation is not small, I think you will need to make a plan for your trips right on the spot in Prague, since agencies do not usually do long trips every day and mix them with excursions around Prague. It will be interesting and not exhaust yourself.

I do not agree about Dresden with andreyvip. There is a very small historical center, everything else was bombed during the war. The center plus the Dresden gallery for amateurs more than 3-4 hours and do not spend. Amateurs here are not in a dismissive sense, but in a general touristic sense :) i.e. people who won't hang out for an hour and a half just in front of the Sistine Madonna. In my opinion, Dresden is exactly a one-day excursion. The road is normal, about two hours one way. But whether it is necessary to visit Königstein on the same day, I’m not sure.

Be sure to plan dinner at Detenice Castle. This is in the suburbs of Prague itself, the journey with a group and a Russian-speaking guide takes 35-40 minutes. From the performance and dinner you will have very pleasant memories. I wish you a pleasant and useful time!

I'm not saying that a trip to Dresden is not interesting, but in comparison with trips around the Czech Republic itself, it is more tiring. It's just better to put it on a trip to Germany. If you are not an advanced person, then 4 hours will be enough to walk around the center, go to the museum and have a bite to eat in a restaurant. The road from Prague by bus around 3 hours, like the bus leaves at 9.00, at 11.00 you will be there, by train a little faster - 2.15 and then you will need to get to the center by tram (No. 8, 9, 11), the tourist bus goes a little longer than usual. The Czech Republic is a very beautiful country and 8 days is not very much for her.
Tresor, how do you generally plan your excursions, on your own or in an organized group with a travel agency?

andreyvip, we plan to go to Cesky Krumlov on our own, and other excursions as part of an organized group with a travel agency.
