Catalonia Bavaro Beach hotel is very large and has a lot of living creatures. There are even flamingos. A lot of greenery. Animals can be fed. So those who travel for nature will like it here. The rooms, well, as in most of the Dominican Republic, are far from new, but there is no such thing as falling apart. Everything you need to bring and cleaning is quite normal. Service is good everywhere. The food is quite varied and tasty. Great selection of drinks and food in the main restaurant. Always a great selection of fruits and a bar with fresh cocktails on the beach (from fruit) on the beach. There are always tables in the restaurant. Lots of entertainment yoga, dancing, archery, kicker, table tennis. Animation is adult at 5. See more RIU and Iberostar hotels. The food at RIU is better than at Catalonia. There was plenty of leg room and the seats were not narrow. We flew from Kyiv with refueling in Ireland for 1 hour. There are 12.5 hours in the sky. Back less - 10.5 hours. Fed for slaughter, watered at will: whiskey, martini, baileys, etc. Who wants what. Now the policy with meals on board may have changed. My daughter just flew in from America, she said that they don’t even give water at all, and from food they gave only a can of chips 40 gr. :)). I observed only one very large man who did not fit in a chair, so he lay on the floor for the entire flight. And so, from our plane everyone was surprised that such a long flight was comfortable. Pros of the holiday: for me, this is the most incendiary country, where everything is positive, great music, delicious and varied food, white sand, beautiful palm trees and beaches for every taste.

Independent shopping - the risk of being robbed and beaten. My opinion: The Dominican Republic is good for package holidays, independent immersion in the country and its traditions is not possible, because it is not safe. A curtain of marijuana smoke is almost everywhere. Extreme poverty, except for the "reservation" for the rich resort of Casa de Campo. But nature and their Latin American music .... is something!!!!! This is what you fall in love with at first sight and from the first sound. I even had a strong desire to learn Spanish :))

We flew south to the Caribbean Sea, we did not want to go to the ocean because of the waves and algae. Hotel WhalaBayahibe sucks, but the Caribbean Sea is very pleased. But we don’t want to go to this resort anymore, a small village, there is nowhere to go, you can die of boredom. Better, probably, all the same, in Punta Cana, despite the ocean.

Kasja23, I have never seen anyone snorkeling in the Caribbean. Maybe there is something in its other places, but where we were, there was nothing to see. No corals, no fish. It's not the Red Sea after all. And the sea in April was calm, and it is generally calm compared to the ocean. I don't like waves.

Azur aircraft for long-haul flights are no different from Air France. And everyone transfers flights in their own way. For me, a 3-hour flight is a torment. And you need to choose a hotel depending on your preferences: someone needs active animation, someone needs a shade from palm trees on the beach (this is not the case in all hotels), etc. But in any case, the Dominican Republic is unlikely to disappoint anyone.
