Excursions are more profitable to take in stalls on the beach (and don't care what the hotel guides say there, they have the same excursions 20-30% more expensive). Hotel guides all the time somewhat obsessively offer excursions - this is their income. But don't be fooled, smile, say what you think))) You buy only long-distance excursions from hotel guides: Cairo, Israel or Jordan. Everything related to excursions around the area is much cheaper on the beach. You can go out with your child both to the city and on excursions, nothing will happen, unless you yourself will not be very comfortable fighting off sticky sellers. They are very hot and obsessive. At the hotel, the animators usually know everything, so feel free to contact them and they will tell you how and where to get better. Sometimes they themselves organize trips to the city.

We were in Sharm twice during the year, some of the firms were tightly closed due to the crisis, there were not many people there - most moved closer to the beaches. Behind the hotels Melton Beach and Sea Beach Aquapark - there is nothing at all, except for a couple of souvenir shops, you will have to cut somewhere specially on the bus. There is life outside the hotel and the beach - I have no doubt, and souvenirs are sold. But from some hotels you have to go to the cluster of shops by minibus. And the buses run too. But with a child, I definitely wouldn’t go in a minibus specifically for trips on a yacht to ride cheaper by 5 bucks. And the difference in prices is approximately the following: a trip on a yacht with a guide - 35 bucks, on the beach 25. But if the hotel is located closer to the center of civilization and you don’t have to go anywhere, but there is time and a desire to go and see what-where-how much - why not?

Definitely Sharm El Sheikh is better, and with a small child there are many options for hotels with a sandy beach. The underwater world does not compare at all. Regarding the previous comment "it's calmer in Hurghada", I wonder where?) Sharm El Sheikh is exclusively for tourists, except for the staff, no one lives in the city here. The police are everywhere, no one clings to the streets like in Hurghada.

Hurghada suited us more - even budget hotels on the 1st line with a convenient entry for children. You can enter the city on foot, if the location is good, and by taxi - cheap in Egypt, and by minibus. But it's probably for adults. In Hurghada, we did not get to souvenirs with fixed prices, but in Sharm and not far from the hotel, and in the Old City we bought. For me it is important , I do not like to bargain . And about excursions, we agreed while still in Ukraine, so as not to go there, not to look.
