If you want ONLY fish to watch, then Marsa Alam. The charm will be weaker.
In Marsa Alam, choose the most southern hotels. Highly recommend Shams Alam. But be aware that it is very far from Hurghada. approximately 320 km. But snorkeling will be outstanding!

First time is better in Sharm. Bays of Sharks Bay (Pyramis, Sultan Gardens), Ras Um Sid (Phanara Club (super reefs !!!), El Faraana, Reef oasis, Renaissance).
