Help me choose: August or September in Crete
Good afternoon! We are going to Greece for the first time on a honeymoon for 12 days. We choose between August 27 and September 3. Tell me when is the best time to go. We want to rent a car, sunbathe, swim and go to Santorini. Maybe in September it will be too cool or frequent storms are possible?

So if you are afraid of storms in September - go early and that's it.
We went last year in August and had no problems with the weather.

We were on Crete that year from September 10 somewhere, the weather was excellent, there was no storm.

Thanks for the advice, the difference in price is not noticeable, I just would like to orient myself according to the weather)))

September is the perfect time to visit the Greek islands. The sea is still very warm, and during the day the heat no longer presses, in the evening it is pleasantly cool (not cold, but fresh and good). But in August it is still quite hot.

Both August and September are good times - each in its own way.

I have been to Crete 2 times. 1st at the end of September, in the second at the beginning of October. End of the season, prices for classy hotels are 20% lower (Aldemar, Grecotel). The weather is super. Water is 25-26 degrees, air is under 27-30, but it doesn't bake like in summer. Car rental from 25-30 euros per day. Great time and place to relax !!!!!

Crete and Rhodes are similar in climate to the Crimea, September is the velvet season. On Santarina, you can drive a superjet without a car, you still can’t travel much in the towns, the lanes are narrow, pedestrian type and hang on the rocks above the sea.

We went from August 31 to September 14 in 2008 to Agia Marina. It stormed often. But it very much depends on the place where you will rest. The weather was excellent: it never rained. The air is +30+35C, the water is also very warm, depending on the beach, of course.
