I think that 4 * in Crete is completely superfluous. Three stars is enough. The most important thing is that the hotel is quiet.
I don’t know what you need to spend a comfortable two weeks, but my wife and I spent more than 2000 euros on this pleasure (excursions, car rental, various restaurants, museums, clothing, souvenirs, etc.). If you take a car for 8 days, then renting a car like KIA Piccanto (1.1 l) will cost about 250 euros, and Hyunday Matrix (1.6 l) - 320 euros. Gasoline there last August cost about 1.7 euros per liter, now I don’t know, maybe it has already risen in price.
