Where to go to Greece for the first time? An interesting holiday in Greece with friends.
Good afternoon, we are going with friends to go to Greece in September. We don't know where to go. We are three girls, 23 years old. We are going for a week, we want to swim in the sea, a beautiful beach, visit several excursions, in a word, a combined vacation. Please tell me - where to go to rest in Greece for the first time, and what excursions to visit, it is desirable that they be near the hotel (or relatively close) We think to save a little on the hotel, but visit interesting places

Good afternoon, an excellent choice for recreation, because the Greeks are a very open and hospitable people. The island of Crete is ideal for you. It has a comfortable climate, four seas and unique architectural monuments that reach 5000 years old, as well as a warm enveloping atmosphere of happiness and tranquility !!!!

Crete itself is not very big, so moving on excursions is not boring. We were in Agia Pelageya, during the day we managed to go to the island of Spinalonga by boat, have lunch in Ellund, take a walk around Agios Nikolaos and return to the hotel around 17-00. And it's all slowly.
If you prefer a rich excursion program, then choose a hotel in the center (on the northern coast) of the island so that it is convenient to get to various antiquities.

As for the excursion program, you will be given booklets about excursions. We were met by Bomo Travel and sent by Mousinides. It would be nice for the sending party to hand over such booklets in advance for review.
I recommend going to the Bomo Travel website and looking at the list of excursions with descriptions (the list is approximately the same for all tour operators). And from whom to order - you will figure it out upon arrival.

Many write that Halkidiki is more interesting, nature is more beautiful (i.e. greener)

And I liked Rhodes more than Crete. Excursions are interesting, the history is ancient and modern, the island is small. Everything is within walking distance by bus or car. We were in September and the weather was amazing.

I was in Crete, Hersonissos Maris Hotel. It's all in my review. What is a beautiful beach? The sea is beautiful and clean everywhere. And living near the sights will not work, as they are located in different parts of the island.

I am going to Greece in September - I have considered all the options. 1 time better to go to Halkidiki. All interesting excursions are closer. As for Crete, it’s very far from there, look at the map, I don’t know how realistic it is to leave Crete for excursions without spending the night on the way, Crete is very advertised, but there are not convenient places to stay. It needs to be known. Read reviews about each specific hotel and place, what is the entrance to the sea, and the sea itself, where will you go. Halkidiki is very interesting - all three fingers. The most interesting excursions are Meteora, Olympus, Delphi, Halkidiki themselves, Kastoria. I would advise 1 time in Halkidiki, without going too deep. To travel on excursions, if possible without overnight stays on the way. It's tedious and not economical. Pay for overnight stays in 2 places at once. Estimate the distance on the map. But keep in mind that nature is more interesting in the depths of Halkidiki. But the distance to excursions from the depths of the peninsula is further. See reviews. In Halkidiki, even 3 fingers are interesting. There are buses and taxis. Taxi for 3-4 people, they write, cheaper than a bus. We can unite to save money if we coincide in time and place, because of the mountains there, the distances along the serpentine are greater than in a straight line

I would live in Greece and would advise you Paralia Katerini: close to Meteora, next to Mount Olympus, not far from Janipa, Kastoria...

but I must say on mainland Greece such distances ... even from Kastoria to meteor about 100 kilometers, and from Thessaloniki all 200 ... within the framework of Crete (a fairly large and at the same time rich in sights of the island), everything is simpler. and Rhodes - that's probably, at least every day go somewhere, a place

If you want beautiful nature, excursions and the beach - Corfu is the perfect option. The island itself is small, you can go around all the interesting places in a few days. You can settle near Kerkyra (for example, Kontokali Bay) - an excellent beach and the city can be reached by bus in 15 minutes - shopping, excursions, cafes. On the outskirts of Corfu there is a street of bars / clubs - where you can relax in the evening.

Good afternoon. 2 weeks ago we returned with a child from Greece. The first time we went to Greece. We chose the Peloponnese peninsula and we really liked it. They lived for weeks on each of the seas that wash the peninsula: the Ionian and the Aegean. Accommodation was booked on booking.com. There are a lot of excursions: ancient Olympia, Sparta, Mycenae - here is just a storehouse of ancient Greek history. And the last 3 days spent in Athens. Here you can read my detailed report where I'm just talking about affordable housing in Greece http://www.mollys-bugs.com/gretsiya-kuda-poehat-otdyihat-zhile-na-peloponnese/
