It is impossible to compare Opatija and Tučepi unambiguously. Two completely different resorts. Opatija is the pearl of the Kvarner Bay, tourism here began to be developed at the end of the 17th century by the Austrian elite, which is not a villa - so a monument of architecture. Opatija is not for a beach holiday, the central beaches are concrete slabs, there are pebble beaches with a beautiful bottom. In Tucepi, of course, there are very beautiful beaches. From Opatija it is convenient to visit: Plitvice Lakes, the Islands of Krk, Cres and Losinj, next to the tunnel leading to Istria. Detailed description of Opatija: http://dini-tours.com/opatiya/. And at the expense of a relaxing holiday in Croatia in August - a moot point. Opatija is a city that wakes up late, and only by 10 o'clock in the morning you can see strolling tourists on the embankment.

Two weeks ago we returned with a friend from Croatia. We rested in Opatija, in apartments in an old villa, which is located in the very center of the city, 20 meters from the sea. Despite this location - complete silence, the city wakes up really late, it was not for nothing that it was a resort for aristocrats. The town is not big, there are no crowds of tourists, the water is clean, but it is better to go to the beach with a soft bedding. There is no fuss in the city, everything is compact, there is a store nearby. Super apartment, great location. I still have the phone number of the owner of the apartment, if you are interested I can tell you. A big plus for the price of excursions. We went individually, in a car with a Russian speaking guide, it was cheaper than a group on a bus. Plitvice lakes 55 euros. The phone number of the agency also remained. I liked Opatija very much, it is quiet, cozy and at the same time very elegant.

If you eat without children and lying on the beach is not important for you, then Opatija is not a bad option for a relaxing holiday. We rested in Opatija in full force with 2 children, the problem of the concrete beach was simply solved, after 500-600 m towards Lavran there was a beautiful pebble beach (slippers are needed), but the water is amazing, the children snorkeled all day, beauty. On the very embankment of the "promenade" there are children's slides and water activities.

saying "Tucepi unequivocally" I proceeded from the fact that Tucepi is a small village designed exclusively for a beach holiday, and Opatija is a city, as it was rightly noted, more designed for aesthetic perception and air baths ... beaches (their quality and size ) I don’t even compare ... I lived in one of the largest hotels in Tucepi - Alga, so at 9 pm there was already a quiet silence .. all the people gathered in the center of Tucepi, there are restaurants, souvenir shops, fish parties and other cultural events :) .... walked, parted and went to sleep ... so that the next day in the morning again go to the beach, enjoy the sea and the scent of pines :)

I was also in Tucepi in June of this year. I can not compare with Opatija, but I liked it. I was with my wife and two small children.
