Climbing to the top of Biokovo
Tell me, please, how can I organize the ascent to Biokovo? Is it possible on foot (we are not climbers), is there a special path to the top of St. Yuri? Is there a similar tour to the top? What are your impressions of the cable car and where is it located in Tučepi?

http://www.biokovo.com/hr/60/ponuda-parka - see the park's website. There and routes, and prices.

Thank you!

Buy a tour at the hotel. It is inexpensive, well organized and quite interesting.

Do the hotels in Makarska or Baska Voda offer such excursions? somebody knows? I read that the entrance to the Biokovo Natural Park and the road to the top of St. Yuri are located in Tučepi.

I think any hotel offers such a tour. Go to the reception of any hotel and ask for an excursion to the Biokovo National Park. The one we were on last year gathered tourists from all the hotels in Tucepi and the Makarska Riviera. They drove through the mountains in minibuses, brought them to observation platforms, showed the ancient settlements, fed the nat. dishes, poured 50g, children were given souvenirs. If you are afraid of heights, then it is better not to go. The road is good, but not for the faint of heart: mountain serpentines and sudden changes in height. It is quite difficult for small children due to the pressure drop.

Every town (probably) has a tourist information service. There you can get a Biokovo map for 45 kunas (2015).
The map is good - it shows the landscape, walking, cycling and auto routes to the mountain. I lived in Basko Pole (southeast of Baska Voda), went on foot to the nearest section of the mountain. On hiking trails: all trails are marked on trees or stones so that you do not get lost on the route. If you stray, you can wander to where it will be difficult to return. Several times it seemed to me that everything ... But I could.
I climbed 1500m, alone, in mid-July. I advise you to choose a time colder and go in the company. It took 10.5 hours from the exit from the camping gate to the descent from the mountain. With me, I took 1.5 liters of liquid water and 1.5 liters of water in the form of ice (in a bottle) - so that there was cool water when the sun was roasting. It was barely enough - when I went down on the other side of the mountain (at the entrance to the tunnel) there was 300g of ice left. So take more water. There is no water in the mountains in summer. Do not count on hitchhiking - locals do not stop at a raised hand. Good luck
