Alcohol and drinks in general are best checked in as luggage. Not in hand luggage. On an airplane, they are unlikely to come in handy. Yes, and cigars too. E: if you have a bottle of even cola with you, get ready that they may be asked to open and drink from it. This is for security reasons.

We don't smoke, so I don't know about cigarettes. But they brought 3 bottles of liquor and vodka. Nobody checked.
