Should I go to Israel without a travel agency?
That is, is it really possible to save money if you take flights yourself, book a hotel or rent an apartment?
PS and how dangerous is Israel? otherwise, as luck would have it, we plan to go, and the media is bursting with reports of terrorist attacks :(

Hello Evgeniya. Israel is not dangerous at all. We have been there already 3 times and have not seen a single angry face. We walked around Jerusalem at night, walked to the service of the Holy Sepulcher, everywhere without problems. If you visit Arab villages in Israel, for example, in Palestine, then of course you can find problems for yourself, but there is nothing special to do there. And so - do not be afraid of anything, you are going to the Holy Land, that says it all. Without a travel agency, you can save money, but you need to find cheap tickets, and regular flights there are expensive. Hotels are cheap, food is also inexpensive, they take shekels and dollars everywhere, they love dollars. Many of ours, every second speaks Russian. Good luck to you. There will be questions, I will answer.

Definitely, going by yourself is much cheaper. I took tickets for October 2010 (the cheapest non-replaceable and non-refundable tickets in EL AL) for two back there - 510 euros (but if you pay by credit card via the Internet, you can get another 60 euros cheaper). I booked the hotel for two (no food, but a studio room with kitchen and utensils, 2 stars in Tel Aviv, 10 minutes from the beach on foot) for 9 nights 625 dollars (payment upon arrival). Plus finance for food and excursions (excursions in Israel are cheaper to take in Kyiv - $ 60 in Tel Aviv - $ 40). In general, in my case it turned out exactly twice cheaper. And everything seems to be fine and simple .... BUT .... a visa ... As I understand it, it’s not realistic to open it on my own, my calls to the embassy did not lead to anything (either busy or no one answers). So you have to resort to the services of the company, and this is at least $ 100. But even in this scenario, it’s cheaper to go on your own. I really hope that by October 25 visas for Ukrainians to Israel will be canceled!!!!

I will add that visas for Russians have been cancelled.

Yes, great, canceled already in my opinion since 2007. I then flew to Israel from Hurghada, and visas were no longer opened for Russians, but only for Ukrainians and Belarusians. I envy the Russians in this regard and I hope that visas will also be canceled for Ukrainians.

We are now friends with you, which means that you will be able to do it without visas. The best thing about Israel is that both Jews and Arabs love us. Among the Jews, every second was born in the USSR, and the Arabs respect us for the fact that together we do not like the Americans. When a bus with Russian tourists passes by an Arab village, Arab kids yell "America is shit!!!". And with a very good Russian pronunciation. Looks very nice. Only beggars they are great. Give one ragamuffin a coin - a whole mob will come running, they will leave him without money.

Evgeniya, you must go! In general, I am a supporter of individual tourism on my own, and Israel, like no other exotic (semi-exotic) country, is suitable for this purpose! I gave a lot of useful tips in my story here: http://blogs.turpravda.com/Olessair/28259.html
