Please tell me, I plan to fly to Sri Lanka with a child in October.
What will the weather be like there at that time? The child wants to see whales and look at the animals in the national park, tell me pliz who knows how it is in October and if anyone in the hotel in Dickwell was like he was in general? Can you go there with a child?

I can't say anything about the weather in October. Yala National Park is nearby. About Dikwella. With a child, of course, you can go there. Swimming pool with sea water, but without slides and animators. In the market and in the local fruit supermarket (we were in February). The hotel area is green, but again there are no special entertainment for children (as of February 2012). On the beach, there are free boards for riding the waves, etc. a simple sport. inventory). There is still Fort Galle nearby.

We were in Dikvel, not bad, the territory is large, but not very, next to some small town with a market. If you stand facing the sea, then to the left, about half a kilometer, you can just walk along the beach. and it would be deep. there is no animation. The beach where you can swim is small. There was a small wave and we rode boards. they give you a menu and you order it. very interesting, a huge beach in both directions, the pool is much larger, there is even animation. Personally, I rested here both in body and soul. The weather in November is great!

Whale safari usually takes place from December to April. This is the whale migration season, so safaris may not take place in October.

Dickwella Village hotel is quite popular, but frankly old. And indeed there are complaints in the kitchen. But at the same time, if compared with other southern hotels, then there is an excellent green area.
Whale watching season opens on the south coast in November. Therefore, they are unlikely to undertake to take you and guarantee that you will see whales. But there you can go on a jeep safari to the Yala National Park, go to Cape Dondra, see the fort city of Galle...
And according to the weather ... there have already been so many discussions of this issue. Read here on the site. Everything with the weather is good all year round :)

I also really wanted to go whale watching. The tour cost $ 150 per person, there is no guarantee. But we didn’t go only because other tourists went the day before us, who were very seasick, they didn’t see anything. And I didn’t take risks.

We went in January and saw whales, dolphins and turtles in the ocean. No one on the ship got sick, plus the captain gives everyone pills for motion sickness before the trip (but we must pay tribute to the shakes strongly, but not fatally, because the ship is small, and the waves are large on the high seas). But this excursion is our most vivid impression of Lanka. But I repeat once again - most likely no one will be lucky for you in October, since the chances of seeing a whale are almost zero.

We were in February with my husband and a child of 7 years. The hotel is very calm, cute little animals ran around the territory. As for the food in February, we didn’t have a custom one, on the contrary, a HUGE selection of the most diverse (including spicy, you need to try for a child) as well as a huge selection of cakes and pies. I don’t advise excursions with Luka - they are aimed at advertising (he will definitely take you to shops where they will “steal” various souvenirs, stones, etc.) wishes.
