I returned from there about a week ago, I will not write a review. Excursions at the hotel are expensive. Tuk-tuks near the hotel are expensive. Pierre (often written about here) is cheaper, but he is obsessive. Much cheaper in Upendra, which has a hotel and restaurant on the right bank, if you look at the ocean. You can order a car or tuk-tuk from him and go wherever you want. Before the trips, I studied information about places that interested me, because the guides are not very much. English in Upendra is good, in the rest - bad. However, in a mountain temple near Dickwell we had a wonderful guide (English) (paid 1000 rupees). When we went to Sinharaja (rainforest), we also took a guide - without him you will not see anything there - and he is looking for monkeys, squirrels and snakes in the bushes. Go to Yalla, drop by Kirinda on the way. I still went to Ussangoda (2000) tuk-tuk. There are fantastic places.
I highly recommend the lighthouse at Dondra Head. (here-tuk will be a maximum of 500 rupees plus for entrance 500 per person)
It is also worth going to Gaul - many people go. I will not say the price, I was there in the winter, but went from another place.

and you didn’t have anything stolen? Is the hotel territory guarded?

Nothing was stolen) Money and documents were kept in a safe at the reception - upon check-in, the key to the safe is handed over immediately.
The camera, phones and netbook were quietly deprived in the room. However, the safe is large, 2 netbooks will fit))
The territory is protected.

Nothing was stolen from us either. By the way, we went to Galle (Upendra arranged the trip). We went to a tea plantation. So I bought tea there much tastier than in the highlands, and the choice was huge, again compared to the highlands.
I agree that Pierre and his "barker team" are very intrusive and very annoying.

Yes, I forgot to say in Galea we took a minibus for 50 dollars. for all day. We went 6 people (3 couples), so it turned out inexpensive
