hotel and excursions
In the middle of January we are going to Sri Lanka. The first question is about excursions: the operator offers to take a three-day tour of the country. Khabarana (elephant nursery, Sigiriya), Kandy (botanical garden, temple, factories, etc.). Breakfast, dinner and accommodation included. issue price + 650 USD to a tour for two Is it worth taking, or is it better to take it on the spot from travel agencies / guides?
the tour operator advised the Tangerine hotel as the most optimal in terms of price-quality ratio. The manager claims that the entire deluxe room stock is the freshest, and completely renovated in 2010. If someone was (relatively recently) - share your impressions. Preferably without emotional excesses))
Thanks in advance for all the great advice

We go every year to Sh-Lanka, the first time we stayed at the Reverina Hotel, a normal 4, but very boring. We met the owner of the Romantic Villa mini hotel (name is Natalya), now only there. The conditions are excellent, the director himself, All excursions through them. The excursion that you are offered is very good and interesting. The price depends on the number of people.
Have a nice rest!

The hotel is really popular with tourists in terms of price-quality ratio. If the room is deluxe, then it is renovated in 2010. I don’t recommend a standard room - it’s old, the bathrooms are old, and the hotel itself is old, shabby, the pool and sunbeds are not in good condition, although the hotel is renovated every year. The territory of the hotel is very beautiful, the food is not bad - there is a lot to choose from, a lot of spicy dishes.

the hotel is good
very popular among Russian tourists
it is better to take a three-day excursion - it is very far from the coast to these tourist places. And the place is just a feast for the eyes!!!

Did I understand correctly - you pay for all the days of your stay in this hotel, and then pay an additional $ 650 for the proposed excursions?
Ask Lanka-lanochka http://www.turpravda.com/forum/topic.php?id=2&t=45474, maybe her program will seem more interesting to you?

no, not everything is minus 3 days that the tour lasts

I did not expect that I would receive meaningful answers so quickly. Therefore, taking advantage of the situation, I will ask one more burning question: I read on the forum about the widespread theft in the specified hotel (including even money from the safe at the reception). How justified are the comments about theft in this and other hotels? I thought about taking a laptop, a large photo and a small video camera with me. Now the dilemma: either cut yourself off from vital things or constantly carry all this pleasure with you?

For zxcvbn8:
You can have a couple more comments on Villa Romantic: the distance to the ocean is somewhat depressing. What is "better than in a hotel" - lack of fuss?

$650 for two - a more or less normal price for this excursion program. In addition, if you take on the spot, it is unlikely that you will be able to return the money for 3 days of stay.

If you want to thoroughly see the country and sights, it is better to take an excursion here. There will be a long drive to see everything.
The hotel is really good, don't worry about it. The price for the tour is acceptable if it's for two.

The price for excursions with feeding and accommodation is normal. My husband and I took one excursion to Kandy from 5 am to 10 pm ($150). This is without food. They gave a dry ration at the reception - an apple, a hot dog, a small juice and a boiled egg (for one person). We fed all this to local birds and dogs. We dined on the way, bought fruit, drank tea at the tea factory. The tour included: an elephant nursery (stock up on bananas and pineapples in advance - it is very expensive on the spot), a spice garden, tea plantations and a factory, a botanical garden and a Buddhist temple. If you are taken to the jungle, be sure to bring moccasins or sneakers (very damp and someone can bite), hats too!!! Unfortunately, not all guides warn about this!!! Everything is cheaper with local guides (not in a hotel), but God forbid something happens during these 3 days, no insurance company will pay!!! Believe my experience - I myself work in Ingosstrakh! It's better not to skimp on this.

Just arrived from Sri Lanka, just from Kalutara. rested at the Ramada hotel, went to see Tangerine. Hotels and one and the other are normal. Rooms in Ramada are under 40 sq.m. all in good repair. Excursions were taken from the city of fighting on the beach. We used the services of the battlefield city of Sorengo de Silva. A visit to a pineapple plantation, an elephant nursery, a spice garden, a Buddha temple in Kandy, a royal botanical garden and factories (textile and tea) cost $ 250 for 4 people, an excursion to Galle, a turtle farm , to the tsunami museum - for 4 - 110 dollars. So it's up to you. We didn’t go to Sigiriya. Take a tour with breakfast only, and if the day is free from excursions, then you can pay for lunch and dinner directly at the hotel. In Ramada, dinner costs 3,700 rupees for 2, lunch is 3,200 rupees. The exchange rate is 1 dollar - 112.10 rupees on December 12 - at the exchange offices of the airport, at the hotel the rate is 1 dollar - 103 rupees.
