Dear travelers, help me make the right choice. Gathered on the New Year holidays to relax and see Ceylon. With the hotel decided on 99%. But how to organize excursions for yourself is still an open question.
There are two options - 1. Buy a tour in TO immediately in Ukraine, which includes a 3-day excursion (Kandy, Sigiriya and everything in the area) + 6 days of rest at the hotel (excursion days - immediately after arrival in Sri Lanka) or 2. Buy excursions already at the hotel. The price difference is $300. By and large, the gain in price when buying on the spot does not bother me much. Most of all, the quality of the excursion and the saving of time are of interest.

I was going to Sri Lanka myself. but it didn’t work out (I’m flying to India). I did the program for Ceylon like this - first for the first two nights of the tour, although it’s hard, and then rest-beach. the price is no more expensive.

My friend and I vacationed last year in October in Kogalla Village. We took a tour for 3 days in Ukraine at once. I liked it very much, it was not hard, there were tourists with 7-year-old children with us, even those perfectly survived everything. The main attractions are in the center of the country, and your hotel is far from them. Therefore, it makes no sense to go back and forth, you will lose time, the traffic there is very slow. We liked the excursion program even more than the rest at the hotel, we regretted that we had not taken more days, we also wanted to visit the Sinharaja rainforest and Nuwara Eliya. Here is my review of Sri Lanka, maybe it will come in handy.

I bought excursions at the hotel. From personal experience, I advise you the first option. Already a lot of time and patience takes the road from the hotel to Kandy and Sigiriya. It is necessary to return all the time from Kogalla to Colombo, because these sightseeing objects are in the north of the country. The autobahn from Galla to Colombo is super, and from Colombo to the north there are roads with a speed of 40 km per hour.

Definitely take it in Ukraine, but more than 3 days, you will see more. I had the cost of entrance tickets included in the package, 3 days of excursion (not enough) and 8 at the bentota clab hotel. If you can choose a guide, ask Samana. Great guide. Take socks for entering temples.

And I got together on my own without agencies - I read about Sri Lanka on the forums and decided. Bought tickets already. I agreed with the local guides on the sites - they will meet me, we will eat right away on the excursion and then they will deliver to the hotel. This way I will not have to pay for the hotel when I am on excursions. It turned out to be very simple, although I don’t know English. I already paid an advance payment. I'm leaving on November 22 for 20 days. At a price three times cheaper than paying a travel agency
