Confused about choosing hotels
I just can’t decide: Induruwa Beach, Villa Ocean View, Reverina or Kani Lanka. And is food worth it? Of course, we are not going to sit in the hotel all day long, so if somewhere nearby there are good restaurants with food that is digestible for Russians, it would be better to take it without food, but it would be better to have a beach nearby. And the green area will not hurt. What to choose? Tell.

I would generally advise you to look at the resorts that are south of Beruwala:
- Bentota (hotel Bentota Beach, 4 * or Serendib /economy) - both the beaches are wonderful and restaurants in the vicinity (Golden Grill, for example).
- Hikkaduwa
cute hotel Amaya Reef - cute, compact, on the coral coast + cuisine is beyond praise at reasonable prices (we went there 10 days ago just for lunch - $ 26 came out for 3);
- Halle
Lighthouse Hotel - elegant chic + promotional prices.
Nearby is a vintage place - a 17th-century fort with art galleries and restaurants in old hotels, and Unawatuna Bay is 8 km away. Nicely!

The hotel is definitely Сlab Dolphin in Negombo. Were there from 12/25/08-01/09/09 - it was amazing!! Although it is declared as 3 *, but it belongs to the Germans, this hotel can be safely put 4+!! Chipmunks are whitening all over the territory, the birds are all green, they clean the territory all day long! The local people are very welcoming and friendly. Meals take "all inclusive" because. You won't find anything decent nearby. And their cuisine is excellent - we didn’t have time to try everything in two weeks))) And still, ask your guide to take you to the market (just before leaving) - there you can buy all sorts of fruits at a ridiculous price (the taste of which you will have time to recognize in the hotel restaurants ) Have a great holiday!

It all depends on when you are going to rest. If in summer, then choose hotels on the south coast.

And if in the middle of May?

Bentota / Hikkaduwa / Galle area.
The Club Dolphin hotel in Waikkala is a decent one of its kind, but you can also fly to Egypt on ALL. But for the sake of getting to know the island, choose the southwest and south coast. There is an opportunity to see the surroundings, and tasty / inexpensive food outside the hotel. The Amaya Reef or Bentota Beach options are quite successful - in terms of comfort and service.

We rested exactly 2 years ago and organized a trip ourselves. It turned out much more interesting, cheaper and it was really interesting. there is no point in flying so far to live in an uninteresting, completely predictable chain hotel.
as we had:
1. we bought a competent guide to the country
2. Visa is placed at Colombo airport
3. 2 tickets to Colombo, via Dubai - $950 each
4. 5-day trip around the country with a personal guide on his car - $ 250 (food and hotels and tips) contacted the guide on the Internet, discussed the route.
there is a special sites, I can give a link.
5. 6 days in Unawatuna (2nd place in the world list of the best beaches in the world!) Beach bungalow, air-conditioned, with breakfast, 18 steps from the Indian Ocean, $ 25 per day for two.
the average cost of lunch or dinner is a maximum of $40 for two with ginger beer and awesome lobsters.
in total, the trip together with entrance tickets to all the sights came out to us - max. $ 2500 for two, when the agencies for the unfortunate all-cursed riverina without excursions and all the exclusivity that we had, wanted to - $ 4300! It seems to me that the arithmetic is too simple, but to decide To you! have a good rest!

Tell me which resort in Sri Lanka to go to in mid-December, in order to get closer to excursions and is it true that lizards and other animals climb into hotels there

It is worth going to the area not far from Galle Unawatuna. There are great beaches. The best! As for excursions, this is not Turkey, where everything is compact: both the sea and excursions. It’s better to be active first, having traveled around the country, and then you can soak up the gorgeous beach ... I write and I want to go back !!! lizards ... I saw one, in the room on the wall, small and harmless ...

DAIRINE:
if you look at the CULTURAL TRIANGLE, you need to take a sightseeing tour for 3-4 days. You can't run into a hotel on the shore! It's like going to the pyramids from Sharm el-Sheikh every day))) It's convenient to start the tour from Negombo (30 minutes from the airport by car). Upon arrival, early accommodation = rest, swim in the ocean, in the second half of the day according to the program - a tour of Colombo. There is also shopping (textiles of fashion brands at good prices!). From the 2nd day, departure to the route: Sigiriya - grandiose! (In the same place in the hotel - overnight), on the 3rd day - Kandy - you have to be (overnight in a hotel above the city - wow!), on the 4th day - Royal botanical garden - and the way to the hotel on the southwest coast (there now the waves are not as powerful as from April to November). HOTELS on the coast: from 4 * worthy KANI LANKA, CLUB BENTOTA, BENTOTA BEACH, KOSGODA. From 5* JETWING LIGHTHOUSE, from 4* + BLUE WATER - sincerely, ROYAL PALMS - elegant; from 3 * + - AMAYA REEF (there is a reef and diving nearby, and the hotel has excellent cuisine), TANGERINE BEACH - pleasant, green. Good price/quality option - JETWING SEASHELLS'3* in Negombo. If you plan to fly from Kyiv, write in a personal. I will tell you which of the routes around the island to choose.

Thank you so much for the responses to my query so far. As a result, the hotel was chosen - BENTOTA BEACH 4 *, meals - half board. The choice was very correct and successful. In response, I can say that I absolutely agree with Lanka-Lanochka - you need to take a tour for several days, I went on 2 excursions: a one-day (if you can call it that trip for almost 20 hours) in Kandy and a two-day (in Yala + Galle), and so the second seemed to me less tiring than the first. When you go on an excursion for more than 1 day, precious time is not wasted driving (and therefore money is saved on excursions), there is an opportunity to relax and see the most, and there is something to see in this country. For example, I didn’t manage to get to Sigiriya, because the tour was for 10 days and I didn’t have enough time for the tour, because the last 2 days I already wanted to relax at the hotel. I also had to take a break between excursions, because. after a 20-hour excursion the next day, you definitely don’t want to go anywhere. So go to all the sights at once for 3-4 days, and you will save time and money, you will take away a lot of impressions and there will still be time for passive rest.
