Tell us about the Latvian Consulate in Kyiv
Good afternoon! I heard about the almost unlimited loyalty of Latvia in issuing Schengen visas. Even the website is very simple.
But what about in reality?
Who was recently?
Are there queues?
How is the application procedure in general, are there any peculiarities?
We have an invitation from the General. organizations - 4 days (Latvia) and 4-5 days we travel around Estonia, Lithuania, by ferry to Sweden.
Do they need to bring bookings for the ferry or transit hotels, if their website states that without a guarantee of accommodation - 45 euros / day, with a guarantee - 15 euros.
I understand correctly, if I show a card with a good amount available, then you can not book in advance ;-)
Very interesting, thanks!

According to the Embassy of Latvia, I am "not Copenhagen" ... But since there are no answers for Latvia, I can answer for the Estonian Embassy :) When we applied last year, we fully indicated hotel reservations in Riga for 2 nights, in Tallinn for 4 nights and in Vilnius - 3 night. Certificates from work, bank statements - we always apply for any Schengen visas :) We also provided a copy of the registration certificate for the car, green cards and a driver's license. We did not have an invitation, however, the Estonian embassy, as far as I know, canceled the invitations. It would be better to book everything in advance - in the embassy such documents will cause more confidence. In general, the more pieces of paper, the better :) The queues at the Baltic embassies are usually small ... But, again, I don’t know about the Latvian one. Friends were sent to Lithuania, - in the order of a live queue, they managed in 40 minutes :)

Today they took the passports from the Latvian consulate in Kyiv. I tell you how it all happened: on October 25 at 8:30 we came to the consulate (Mazepa 6-B), we were in the top 10. Reception began on schedule - at 9:30. There were not many people at the time of opening, about 20 people. The guard lets two people inside, conducts a small inspection, issues a ticket with a number and lets them into the room. A separate package of documents is submitted for each family member. We have served:
1) A questionnaire with a pasted photograph (the questionnaire was filled out in Russian, but with one caveat: the name and surname must be written in the same way as in a foreign passport "Ivanov / Ivanov, Vasya / Vasia");
2) Certificate of employment indicating salary for 6 months;
3) Certificate from the bank on the existence of an account and the balance on the account;
4) Unpaid hotel reservation in Riga;
5) Repurchased air reservation "Air Baltic";
6) Insurance (COPY and original).
7) A copy of the internal passport (all pages were made) and the original;
8) A copy of a foreign passport (all pages with visas and stamps) and the original;
9) Travel plan;
10) Consular fee 35 euros;
The Kosul fee is paid right there, in the window. They said in a week to bring the paid hotel reservation and pick up the passports.

After that, I contacted the hotel and asked to withdraw money from the credit card for accommodation. They sent me a copy of the "invoice" and a copy of payment receipts, as well as a re-confirmation of the reservation, with the phrase that the room was prepaid. With these three pieces of paper, we went for passports. An employee of the consulate in front of us contacted the hotel reception and was stunned by the news: "Your room is not paid for!" In general, I had to be nervous. We sat at the consulate for about an hour until everything cleared up. But we still got visas :) In general, "affordable amounts" on the accounts and "45 euros per day" do not work. We were not the only ones who were required to pay full prepayment for the stay. So it's better to pay everything in advance, so that later you don't drink Corvalol in the consular reception;)
