In Budva, on the market near the Megamarket, which I bought one and a half liters of homemade olive oil for 10 euros, or rather I bargained for 9. The oil is good. The oil there is not bad everywhere, if you read the labels correctly and do not take oil from the pomace, it is written on it and it is very cheap. Fortunately, there is almost no language barrier :-)

thank you, we eat for the first time on 29.07. departure. Friends were buying on the embankment, they said very bad and it is better to take in dutifree

I'll tell you a big secret: you should never take anything on the beach. And the olive oil, which they sell there in multi-colored plastic bottles, is intended for SPA procedures at home :-) In other words, smear the skin. It is best to buy oil in supermarkets, markets, and preferably where the Montenegrins themselves take it, i.e. not in resort places, not where they sell souvenirs for tourists.
Happy rest!! It's great, you'll love it :-)

It’s really great there, but Montenegro is not Spain or Italy, the oil there differs from Spanish in the same way that Moldovan wine differs from Georgian. The climate is not the same. And how hard it is to carry. And the houses in the supermarket are not more expensive.
аватар Viltis
logvinova6, I just don’t take Spanish oil :-) The best oil is Greek, or rather Cretan. And Spanish is considered to be the lowest quality oil. It's just a popular brand in the post-Soviet space, just like Hennessy cognac .. such .. worldwide deception :-)

Montenegrins themselves go to the Bar for good oil, either on Saturday or Sunday there is a market

Oil that is sold in the markets in the heat, do not take anywhere and never. Fats go rancid quickly, even if the raw materials are good, the technology is followed. Two days in the sun - and this is one name, although there is still no rancid smell.
Personally, I once pierced on the market in Croatia - stupidly rancid oil caught! I did not even expect such a "divorce". Seemed to be leaking oil...
Since then, I took it only in some dark hangars - I don’t know what to call them - in the Czech Republic and Croatia in the mountains I came across signs and we went into the house (hangar or something like a cellar), where there were wines, oil or prosciutto in a dark cool room. It's always been great!
The supermarket also has a lot of good butter. Do not chase the so-called "home". It may happen that you were sold cheap from the store, tearing off the label. The same with honey.
Fake, how is it? It is not so very expensive to fake MONTENEGRO oil. Just oil for 3 euros or "pomas" - they can sell you as homemade and expensive.

Viltis, and I once read that olive oil is generally a hoax. As if it is good, but in no way inferior to sunflower. Just half of Europe in olive groves, well, why not advertise sunflowers? And the USSR specialized in the latter. Ukraine is generally a leader in this field.
Now often abroad it is sunflower oil that is more expensive than olive oil. I am silent about corn and other illiquid assets)))
We can be proud of ourselves
PySy - I love olive oil, I always bring)))

Oh yes-oil-only in glass!
аватар Viltis
hatinka, I will not argue with the great guru of tourism and cooking at any time. you are absolutely right about everything.
аватар hatinka
Well, I can not write after each message IMHO. This is what the forums suggest. If you read my messages and there is a desire to argue, then you can simply add "IMHO" at the end of my post and there will be universal happiness.

A useful link about olive oil - a photo report from an Italian oil mill

If someone else would explain to me what this "IMHO" is??????????
аватар Viltis
I have an Opinion Fuck you will challenge :-))
But seriously, the translation from English:
In My Humble Opinion - in my humble opinion
аватар logvinova6
Oh thank you. The second option is, of course, better. Can it be abbreviated?
аватар Viltis
well IMHO :-) So they write. You can show off and write IMHO :-)
I like the first one more :-) It fully reflects the significance of IMHO in the vastness of Runet :-)
аватар logvinova6
So yes)):

And yet, about the oil :) In the markets there is olive oil from the city of Bar - like "Barske Zlato". It is considered the best of the shops in Montenegro.
аватар Viltis
it doesn’t matter where the oil comes from, the main thing is acidity.
аватар Leyle
and what is she the main one?))) tried to find out in Greece, so the seller said that only crazy Russians are interested, but she did not explain intelligibly
аватар hatinka
Acidity is really important, but sellers should not understand this. Technologists, yes, demanding customers, too. The joke is that refined oils, blends and oils will have a low pomace acidity, most likely -0.5%. But this is not what we need. Once. Secondly, in the market you will never know the acidity of the oil and no one determines it. After all, you are at home too, if you cook cookies or a cake, you will not “translate” it into a definition, fat content, for example. So are the farmers.
On oils manufactured at large enterprises, acidity is set, especially if it is low.
You want to buy extra virgin, then choose among the extra virgin with the lowest. In this calculation, do not just take virgin, pomace and other varieties.

Thanks, we'll know!
аватар Viltis
Leyle, that's just in Greece on Crete they make oil with an acidity of 0.3-0, while all Spanish is 0.8. It was the Greeks who taught me to choose oil according to acidity :-) Before Crete, I had no idea ..
