rental housing and cars in Petrovac
I plan to go to Petrovac at the end of August. Can you recommend good villas or apartments near the sea (no more than 200 m), and also how to book them?
In which companies is it better and cheaper to rent a car with full insurance? Or is it better to book a car in advance? If you know Russian-language sites, please let me know.

And about the car. I don't even know if it's needed or not.
Minuses:
parking .. the eternal minus in small towns and countries.
narrow streets, it is very difficult for us - residents of megacities to drive there, to park.
mountain serpentine..
good transport network. Olympia buses are small, very comfortable and air conditioned every 5-10 minutes. They run from Petrovac to Budva along the entire riviera. There, the entire riviera is covered by a network of excursions, inexpensive, and pleasant. The guide will tell, show and even feed the fish soup, or Negush schnitzel :-)
you need to fill and wash the car yourself.
pros:
don't even know. We took a car in Crete where it was needed, in Montenegro we didn’t take it. Rights were with them, but the car did not need. We took excursions to Dubrovnik, Albania and Tara Moraca. You can go to these places by car, no problem, but it’s more interesting with a tour, and it’s not so scary to ride mountain serpentines. And you can walk along the Riviera on foot, the distances are trifling, it’s more pleasant on foot :-) Yes, and the buses run around all the time, the old city in Budva is a euro from the nose, and we took a taxi back for a euro from two. So you don't need to take a car there.

I personally sent you a site that seemed to me the most convenient in terms of CG - a lot of photos, a map at once, separate photos of different apartments, if there is only one house or owner.
And by car. If you run only along the coast, then there is no point in having a car - cheap minibuses + water transport. And if you are interested in a tour, you can take a car. If you have experience of free parking in Europe, then here you will also park on the ball and according to the rules. Although, the ChGrs themselves do not really favor these parking rules. But in Dubrovnik, we saw a lot of people checking parking receipts and a lot of receipts for fines. Really caught my eye!
Also, traffic cops are very fond of Russian violators of traffic rules, but you can bargain!!!
Just like our gays, they "love" places with poorly visible markings. They are fined for driving without light during the day, or with foglights, when, in their opinion, there is no fog ;-)
Again, evaluate your driving experience. Even if you have driven on the autobahns in Switzerland or Austria, you need to understand that in the Czech Republic the roads are much narrower, with a huge number of tunnel turns, and even forks in the tunnels. Most of the roads in the outback are one-lane and cars are forced to pass. But we love it. And you?

Well, the driver is also a person, he also wants to look out the window and enjoy the views)))
If you are going to visit Zabljak, the Black Lake, the canyon of the Piva River, the Ice Cave, mountain roads at an altitude of 2000m, then you need to take a car.
And if the standard excursions, then the car is not really needed.
I can drop the rental in a personal. You gotta knock. We took diesel and Renault Thalia (because of the large trunk). The rental is small, we corresponded with them for a long time to settle all the questions about insurance, payment, and the number of drivers. In total, you can go to Croatia (they give a greengart to everyone), drove like a hosh, insurance without a deductible, but tire damage, dirty interior and mirrors are not included as standard. They don’t find fault with the damage, since the cars in the ChG are all smart by our standards - they are often scratched, the doors are all scratched ... It hurt me to look)))
We paid 35 euros per day, 2 weeks, end of August/beginning of September 2011. At that time it was the cheapest and best option. Hire from Kotor, the car was driven and taken to the airport for free. The disadvantage is that Shufutinsky’s disc was stuck in the radio, so we didn’t hear normal music, and the radio is not everywhere there.

http://www.petrovacnamoru.com/privatni-smjestaj look, I found my apartment there and have been going there for several years. Written off in English by email, sent prices and booking conditions. But you can, of course, just come and find housing, as in the Crimea.

Agree with taleuk. If you go at the end of August, after the 20th, then there are a lot of offers for renting housing. Right on the houses hang signs "sobe". My husband and I will fly to Tivat, take a taxi there and drive along the riviera in search of housing that we like. Last year we rented good apartments, and not far from the sea, but no one told us that the approach to the villa is 60-100 meters, a steep climb, 30 degrees. And we have age and knees :-( Now we will visually choose :-)

I offer studio apartments in Petrovac near the beach (not uphill!!). The room has two beds, TV, air conditioning, kitchen, bathroom, balcony. Price - 55 euros per day plus tourist tax of 1 euro per person per day. Cleaning every day, change of towels every 3 days, bedding once a week. The place is quiet, all infrastructure within walking distance. Write [email protected]

According to the residents themselves and not only, car rental in Croatia and Montenegro is very expensive and there are many problems, it is unprofitable, and besides, it is dangerous! If you do not need to go somewhere to the uninhabited corners of Europe, then it is better to take a taxi or take a bus, and it is easier and more convenient.

All rolled salt is a separate driving pleasure on Montenegrin roads! Of course, if a person has been driving for more than a year and had experience driving on mountain roads, even in more prosperous Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland.
At the expense of unprofitable-willingly argue!
If you ride the Yaz from Budva, then yes. And if you travel around the country and neighboring countries, it is very profitable. And lastly, traveling by car is fundamentally different from riding taxis and buses. I would never change my car for a taxi!

I partly agree with hatinka. But for me personally, it’s easier to sleep for another hour on the bus or enjoy the view from the window than to twist along the serpentine, where there is an abyss on one side. Yes, and there are a lot of problems with parking and registration (not to mention scams and divorce for money at the box office). And if you break, finally pipets ....
Well, as for the benefits ... We spent a little more than a hundred euros per person on the road, when riding buses. At the same time, we looked at 4 countries and did not worry about parking, etc. And how much will such a trip by car cost? You have to pay for rental, crossing borders, parking, gasoline, insurance, etc. I doubt it's cheaper.
In general, to each his own. Here you need to look at the situation and take into account many factors.

Where is there "a couple of hours on the bus"? :-) From the city to the city 30 minutes on foot :-) Well, lil 2-5 minutes on the tourist espress. This is in Crete, yes, without a car, nowhere. And in the same Chania, driving is much more difficult than in Budva, but still you can’t go anywhere without a car. And in Montenegro, not those distances. Yes, and it is covered by excursions almost all of it, at every step of the excursion. And for pennies.

Viltis, the canyon of the Piva river along the old mountain road is what I went to Montenegro for. And then towards Serbia to the dam along the canyon. Excursion to the canyon of the Tara River is just a laugh ;-)
We saw these excursions - they bring three frames to the bridge, souvenir junk and back to the bus. No, this is definitely not my style))) I need to drive there and there from all angles to look, to walk around.
If a quick sightseeing glance is enough, then yes, you can quickly see the country.
What about the ice cave? And to the mountains? And what kind of mountain roads are there - just chic!
At the expense of abysses, well, not really abysses there, and there are nets, and fenders. Narrow, yes, turns, yes, many tunnels, yes, not always of high quality, yes.
But the abyss ... Did not notice)))
For beginners, I definitely do not recommend!
