Friends who went to Albania? Interesting? Not tiresome? How much does it cost and what is included in the trip?

I went last year at the beginning of September. I can’t say that the tour is exciting, but I discovered Albania for myself. The country is one solid new building, the standard of living is low, but it is developing rapidly. They showed us the bunkers, told us the history of the country, deceived us by 10 euros, but we do not regret that we went :-) The guide deceived us: she said that lunch was included in the price, and then she collected 10 euros for meat lunch and 15 for fish. But the dinner was great and the restaurant is wonderful.
But there’s nothing special to remember, the tour .. nothing special, the guides themselves in Montenegro don’t woo much, but I’m glad. who visited Albania.

Thank you very much, I feel the same way. Maybe nothing special, but I want to say to myself "I was there." As they say, the most closed country in Europe and the second after South Korea in the world.

Be sure to visit. And look how they turned around in 20, we jump and jump before them ..
At the expense of lunch, I warned: if you are full, and you will be full, because lunch is at 12, then it is better to refuse, but see for yourself. If you have lunch, I advise you to take a meat lunch, it is not only cheaper by 5 euros, but it is also tastier and richer. Buy souvenirs across the street from the restaurant, there is a shopping center .. like, olive oil for 5 euros per liter. And T-shirts and cups are better in a store near the border. Be sure to take a scarf, in Shkodra they will bring it to the Orthodox Church.
Good luck, have a nice trip :-)
If you feel sick, take candy, for some reason everyone got sick on the way there, although the road is not very mountainous ..

The country is wonderful! We went there as savages, we really liked it. The prices are low (a 5-star super hotel, a room like a gym costs 90 euros per day), the nature is beautiful and there are almost no people. And the sea and the weather are very warm!
And do not take excursions from scammers if you want to see the country!!! Everyone is allowed into Albania without any problems! We drove ourselves from Montenegro and crossed the border on foot. True, you can only stay there for 10 hours for free, and then you will need to pay 10 euros upon departure (although nothing was taken from us). Read my review (magnus777) for more details.

The funniest excursion for me is this trip to Albania.
An idiotic lunch where every 15 minutes they give a piece of something edible, and the main meat dish is three lamb bones. In two places they tried to cheat in money, and laughter and sin.
Poverty around, shabby houses, ruins of second-hand things, children dirty, poorly dressed - a continuous film by Kusturica.
I went and understood that our Soviet system brought this poverty and anger to this country, when we taught the whole world to live in the Soviet way.

Wow, where did they feed you like that?! We were in a restaurant with a fountain in the center of Tirana. Meat lunch: meat in a pot with white sauce, called soup, but to me, meat casserole. Greek salad and three pieces of meat in onion sauce with potatoes. Dessert. 10 euros.

And we ourselves bought food in stores and in private shops, which are in bulk there (such as home-based individual entrepreneurs). Everything is very cheap. For example, a melon costs 80 leks (at a rate of 140 leks for 1 euro). That is, for 2-3 euros you can eat well. Don't pay scammers!
And poverty is good for tourists, because everything is very cheap, like in Egypt or Turkey, only in Albania there are fewer people, but everything is really natural.

I was on an excursion to the city of Shkodar (or Shkadar). Lunch was also in the central restaurant of this city.
They put the crowd at the table, we don’t know what we are waiting for, then they each carry a piece of cheese the size of our half-sandwich, we didn’t understand what this dish was for, we ate it, then we wait. In a few minutes, we have one plate of half-green tomatoes for four of us. We ate, then we expect, then these three bones of lamb, two naked, on one half a piece of meat. A couple from Denmark, who sat at the same table with us, got beer, and the waiters counted all their drinks and my husband and I had to figure it out . But out of absurdity, it seemed ridiculous to me, although ours at other tables were indignant at dinner, no one ate.

People, well, what are you talking about lunch?!!!! Did I ask about the country? Is there anything to see or what? Is it safe to leave passports at the border? Is the road interesting?
аватар magnus777
Well, it's lucky for you, at least they fed you. In general, it’s easier to go to the cafe yourself if you really want to try the local cuisine. There prices are lower and choose what you want. Don't pay scammers!

As for the country... Of course, it's worth going there, it's very interesting! Only the tour is very exhausting, hanging out in the bus all day in the heat. It is better to go and see what you want and how much you want, if time permits.
And you don’t need to leave your passport anywhere, anywhere at all and never! Don't give your passport to anyone! You can only show it at the border, well, or the police, if required. But the documents should always be with you!
аватар Viltis
Well, firstly, we "hang out" on the bus exactly as much as you are in the car. To the border, then we walk there, then to Shkodra, there is an excursion, then Tirana and back. We even "hang out" less than motorists. We are entertained, we are told the history of the country, we are shown sights.
Why did you hand over your passports? This is the first time I hear that passports are given away. Is it like this? Who did you give them to? You are in a foreign country.
аватар magnus777
I support Viltis about passports! You can't trust anyone in a foreign country! However, many guides collect passports for travel arrangements and crossing the border. In this case, I advise you to give a copy of your passport for registration (which you always need to have with you!), And at the border, give your passport only for verification and immediately demand it back!!!
аватар Viltis
No one ever collects a passport for an excursion. They just write data and that's it. At the border, a border guard enters the bus and puts stamps. Or as in Dubrovnik: the border guard came in, collected the passports, took them to the office, took them out, and distributed them.

logvinova6, There is nothing to watch there. Honestly. Well, there are no special such sights, or the beauty of nature. Albania is similar to our Crimea. But not on the mountain, beautiful, but on the one near Semfiropol: a plain, withered grass and hills somewhere in the distance. No castles, waterfalls, lagoons, canyons will be shown to you. You will be taken to the cities, guided through them and brought back. Same thing on its own. Road, town road.
As for lunches: they are trying to convey to you the information that Albanians are not averse to deceiving, and especially Russian speakers. The first thing your guide will tell you is that the Albanians "don't like the 'Soviet' people" a bit :-)
And the guide in Budva asked us not to wear caps and T-shirts with the symbols of Montenegro.
аватар logvinova6
Viltis, thank you. Now I completely understand everything.
аватар tipa11
logvinova6, You confused South Korea with North! this is North Korea the most closed, but South is quite the opposite)))
аватар magnus777
There is something to see in Albania, as there are many ancient cities, their history goes back thousands of years! Read the history of this country and the list of attractions!
аватар logvinova6
mixed up-mixed up)): I noticed it already in printed form, I was too lazy to correct it.
