Where is the best place to relax in Montenegro?
Tell me, please, where is the best place to relax in Montenegro. Let's go for the first time. I want a uncrowded beach and good food. It can also be done in the countryside. Budget 1500 USD for two for 10 days.

Not crowded except in the off season, as we went in early June for 10 days, the entrance to the beaches was free, there were few people, the sea is clean and pleasant, and on June 12 the season opened, the beaches became paid and more people appeared. We lived at Villa Ivona in Budva , 2 meals a day breakfast / dinner, 2 beaches nearby, in the evening there is where to go, not far from the market with local products - olives, cheeses, homemade olive oil, vegetables, etc. It cost us 1000 euros for two with food, accommodation and flight/transfer.

Montenegro has its own specifics. We often flew there before, and when the Crimea became "not ours", then Montenegro completely replaced it for us and even more. I like Montenegro very much both in nature and in nutrition. The service is a little higher, although again, how lucky you need to know the places, and in the last 2 years the prices have increased markedly (I think that at such prices there is simply nothing to do there). Previously, they flew there precisely for May, there were always flights, and then they were removed and moved to June .... the fact is that there are few municipal beaches and hotels that can boast of their beach, there are practically none and they have a huge cost. The beaches are small, and by the season they come to Montenegro from all countries + locals and the feeling that I got back to the Crimea :) Towels are laid in the aisle ... The water is overwhelmed .... you can, of course, go to the islet of Hawaii Becici) and try there .. but they like to take money there, but at the same time, pebbles, sun loungers are more expensive and there are still few places again. Therefore, having visited twice a season, the theme of Montenegro

It is important to know the time of the visit, we stopped in Budva during the off-season, where the sea is clean, and close to everything, and the prices are already acceptable, and there are few people, and the coast is good. But during the season there are a dime a dozen people there and prices are too high, then it’s better in Rafinovich, for example, or Sveti Stefani. The season in Montenegro is from July 1 to September 10.

Closed and choose other directions. In May, some water certainly invigorated, but peace and grace. You are welcome everywhere, because there are few visitors. Sunbeds are free. The embankment is half empty. There was no hype for excursions. But they were not held with the same frequency as in the season, but over the years that we went, we looked at everything without a flea market and slowly. If you are planning a vacation in the first days of June, then there will probably still be few people, from the second half there is an influx everywhere .... and more and more people. Your budget for two is quite normal. The food is at normal prices, the quality is excellent (we never got low-quality food wherever we ate. The meat is excellent meat, and the fish is always fresh and of excellent quality). It will be very good in Montenegro in September. When the locals and Russians go home, the water is warm and the hype is on the decline.

We want summer. After all, we are going to the sea. I understand that it is necessary to choose Bulgaria - Turkey?
аватар Natali_NN
We were from September 23 to October 5, the weather was super, the water was invigorating, on the day of departure the temperature dropped to +23. Once in all the time we got under a downpour, well, just a tropical one.

Montenegro is in every way more interesting than Bulgaria and as far as I know cheaper.

It’s hot everywhere in summer) and Montenegro is no exception, in addition, there are a lot of people in Montenegro after June 15, therefore, from the less crowded ones, as Sveti Stefan already wrote above, Petrovac, perhaps Budva and Becici will be very crowded, although the beaches there are large and by the way - free, no one takes money for entering the beach, and sunbeds and umbrellas - yes, for money, of course. In the same Budva there are places where the water is clean, and further along the beach it is dirty, in order to choose a place, you must not be too lazy and walk along the beach. There is also Magren beach in Budva behind the old town, it’s quite a long way to go there and there are also a lot of people there, but it’s insanely beautiful and the water is clear. In general, the Montenegrin phenomenon is that on almost every beach the water is of a different color, and even on the same beach from different sides it can be of a different color. Your budget is quite reasonable. And if you don’t really go to restaurants, then you’ll also bring money home :) In Budva there are grill shops, mesars, they have the freshest meat that will be fried in front of you. Have a nice holiday.

In the summer, honestly, you will spoil the impression of the country ..... there will be a lot of people everywhere, regardless of the place. For many years of visiting Montenegro, we rested everywhere, but of course Budva is most liked, but not in the season !!! In the season it's a nightmare....cramped narrow beaches....to which people come from all over the town....they are simply not designed for so many people. This situation is almost everywhere where we were ..... only there is also added mountainous terrain, a small infrastructure (if we are talking about a small village), that is, it might be boring. You can rent a car and see for yourself ... but in some places there are such mountain roads ... you need to be very careful. Also, the level of service noticeably drops during the season .... more than once we have encountered the fact that in cafes, when 100% loading is a priority for serving locals (who came on vacation). We are more than a foot in Montenegro in the season. Lots of money, no fun.

We rested in July in Herceg Novi and did not notice a special crowd. In Budva, yes, noise, din, bustle, crowded beach. And in small towns, the beaches are small, but half empty.

We were in Petrovac at the beginning of September. I liked it very much. The sea was cooler than in Turkey, but not cold. It is impossible to say that there were few people. I really liked the food. Lots of small cafes and restaurants. Portions are large, on the third day we began to take 1 serving for two, because. it was simply unrealistic to eat each one separately.))) I really liked the prosciutto, local wine, fish. Everything is very tasty and fresh. And nature is beautiful!

To begin with, it would be nice to decide: Do you want to live in a villa or in an all-inclusive hotel? If at the villa: partially cook for yourself, buy groceries in markets, sometimes eat in cafes, combine a beach holiday with excursions, then you can consider it as an option. If you want a hotel with an all-inclusive system, then you definitely won’t meet this budget. Then it is cheaper to consider options in other countries where this all-inclusive system is fully operational. Write down your rest period and your accommodation requirements. This is important to know. In my opinion, for example, in early June, the Adriatic Sea is definitely cool.

I was in Rafailovichi in September (the resort of Budva, but this is not a rural area, it takes about 15 minutes to get to Budva by minibus for 1 euro). I fell in love with Kamenovo beach. PURE water, in September it was not crowded, but you need to walk a little from the villas and hotels to this beach, beautiful views when approaching the beach, this path did not bother at all. Sunbeds, umbrellas for a fee, free Wi-Fi on the beach. Took a villa without meals. The embankment is full of cafes and restaurants for every budget and taste, there are markets nearby, so food is not a problem.

Thanks to everyone who responded. We are planning for early September. Judging by the reviews, there are already fewer vacationers, but the sea is still warm. All inclusive does not interest us. We are not pretentious, we do not need apartments. The main thing is to have a place to sleep and cook food. Since we will cook something ourselves when we have lunch and dinner in a cafe. For us, the main thing, as I already wrote, is "our" piece of the beach, so that you don't smoke in your face and try the local cuisine, see the country, if possible. By the way, how much do the tours cost?
аватар Natali_NN
I’ll share my experience .... an employee flew to Thu from September 10 to 26, 2016, we were from September 26 to October 5, 2016. So the employee got to change summer shifts with Indian summer, our weather was better. In general, I noticed that the beginning of September is not very affectionate, the same was encountered in the north of Vietnam in 2015. This is for thought, although the weather is not predictable right now.....

Here is my holiday review:

Look, there are photos there, and about the excursions that you visited, maybe you will find something interesting for yourself)). I won’t say for sure at the cost of excursions, but from memory it seems like 12-18- and 20-plus euros for the excursions I described (via the link). If you take a couple of excursions from one seller on the waterfront, then you can bargain, give a couple of euros, a trifle, but nice))
аватар miladyKET
By the way, apartments in Montenegro are far from being the best and most expensive places to live. I can recommend you a very budget villa-apartment in Budva in a convenient location for food, the beach, buses (we lived there ourselves for two days). And the price of excursions also depends on the season and what (15-40). From mid-September, an average of 5 euros cheaper.
аватар Natali_NN
Since mid-September, prices have dropped by 2 times.

The author, in Montenegro there is no concept of "its own beach". Sunbeds and umbrellas are paid. There are 117 beaches on the coast of Montenegro, the total length of which is 73 km. The beaches of Montenegro vary greatly: some are rocky, others are concrete, others are pebbly, and sandy ones are also found on the south side near the town of Ulcinj. Most of the beaches do not belong to hotels, and theoretically any traveler can freely visit each of them, with the exception of private areas. However, sun loungers and umbrellas cost money here. For this reason, Montenegrin beaches have acquired the title of the most expensive beaches in Europe.
Regarding the rental of apartments and villas - this housing, especially without food, is considered the cheapest in Montenegro. The farther from the sea, the cheaper.

see Albania
аватар Natali_NN
Albania is a country less picturesque, less safe, but of course cheaper
аватар musja7
Albania has just ceased to be cheap. The price difference with Montenegro is already small. But the service there is even worse. For cheap Albania it was necessary to go 2-3 years ago. Well, to specific places. In Albania, last year in Vlora, where rocky beaches were in full swing, the embankment was being repaired. Do not go in the direction of Ksamila. It’s not bad there. But you can’t count on low prices anymore. Or you will get the level of Crimea 20 years ago. Montenegro and Albania cannot be compared yet.
аватар musja7
Montenegro is a great country for recreation. But if you really don’t want to spoil your first impression, you need to go here in June (minus - the sea is cool, rain is possible) or in September (minus - rain is possible). In July-August there are a lot of people here. If you want to get away from the crowd at least a little, choose not Budva. Either in Kotor (a small old town in the bay, a paradise for artists and other bohemians), or in the Becici-Rafailovici region, where there is a longer strip of beaches. Budva is an anthill, where you still need to try somewhere to stumble on the beach during the high season
аватар Natali_NN
Or in September ..... people are shrinking, prices are getting cheaper, the sun is gentle))))
аватар miladyKET
And talk .... Why repeat almost the same thing? The author of the question, apparently, determined everything for himself.

Hello, do you know that there is an interesting bus tour to Montenegro for 11 days "Balkan MEGA tour" at a cost of only 239 euros with departure from Dnepropetrovsk, Kyiv and Odessa. For this tour, we open a Bulgarian visa for half a year (in winter there will be a good opportunity to go skiing in Bansko). But here you will think that here are a million agencies from Ukraine that send bus tours, but we have something special - this is going on a tour on a transforming bus and long journeys will not seem so tiring. Have you heard of these? Not?! Then I will tell you now what is its peculiarity. The bus is reconfigured in such a way that allows tourists to sleep completely horizontal at night, like on a train. Don't you believe? Then here is a photo of the bus http://www.i-travel.com.ua/setra-316-2/
During our tour you will have the opportunity to visit countries such as Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will spend 4 days at sea in Budva, the rest

Why go to Montenegro through Bulgaria? Big detour and extra border crossing.
аватар Natali_NN
This is for fans all at once, we talked with a guy from Belarus in Budva, he came on a similar tour, so after 3 cities he forgot where he was and what he saw)))). But the women of Lvov liked Budva so much that they sent their husbands as the tour was bought, by plane, and they themselves bought such a move and stayed for another week, it turned out cheap for them.

My husband and I had the experience of a bus tour of Europe in my youth ...... everything was mixed up in a bunch ... where they were, what they saw .. galloping through the sights .. since then I don’t even look at such tours, even if it is offered to spend the night in hotels, but in the offer of kcyha2005 it’s generally tin ... I can’t even imagine this oil painting when someone’s legs are at my head (and judging by the photo, that’s exactly what it will be ... and what’s the point of being in a horizontal position. Fuck me, fuck me :)
