I personally, when booking through booking, give the number of a debit card on which there is no money (or rather, there is, but only a few euros). I always used everything that I reserved, I'm just afraid to give a credit card number, especially when it comes to Turkey, for example.

These are, as a rule, cheap small hotels, without terminals and the ability to do something with cards. That is why they only accept cash. And why do you write that SMS came? hatinka, not quite so - the mass of both large and chain hotels indicates payment later. I know, because for me this is just an inconvenience, so even when I find a suitable hotel on booking, I go to book it for a year - the price is the same there, but prepayment and accrual of points.
