Dear travelers, how do you take pictures while traveling?
I usually take pictures with my phone, but it turns out disgusting. How do you take good pictures?

Camera. And last year, my friend, when the charge in the camera ran out, started taking pictures with her phone (Samsung, I don’t remember the model). It turned out that the phone copes with the semi-dark halls of the museum better than the camera - the pictures were brighter and more contrast. We were very (!) pleasantly surprised. :)

Are the beautiful photos from Argentina taken with a phone? Respect :)
I have a NikonD3100, but lately I also mainly shoot on a mobile phone. If the smartphone is on Android, then you can download various free "cameras" that significantly improve the quality of mobile photos. I agree with illusia - it happens when it's easier and faster to take a picture with a phone than with a camera. Yes, and any decent camera requires unhurried handling for a good picture, and a traveler often has to take pictures on the run.

At the very beginning there was a soap dish, then an advanced soap dish, then a SLR with interchangeable lenses. After several trips “on enthusiasm”, we realized that we hardly take pictures, because it’s a bummer to take a DSLR everywhere. And they changed it back to an advanced compact for ?$250. For now, this is happiness. The quality for printing is sufficient, for displaying on TurPravda - even more so. Fits in a shirt pocket, carry everywhere. iPhone in terms of image quality is resting compared to it.
Here, by the way, specially made for you and me

The last Turkey and South America were filmed on a Lenovo phone. The battery there is excellent, but there is no camera (or you need to configure something there, which I don’t find).
In Samsungs, the camera is usually very good, but the battery dies in half a day ((.

xeops, very good camera! By the way, at his insistent request, I gave my husband a Samsung NX2000 "for the new year". In October of last year, it also cost about 250 bucks at the Rozetka. Of course, I still carry a photo backpack with two interchangeable lenses and a tripod, but I often leave them at the hotel. Because the husband’s camera is more than enough. This is an excellent reporter's "mirrorless" with removable lenses and excellent depth of field (depth of field), compact, lightweight camera. And there is such a function there, "beauty face" is called - my favorite :))) Improves the appearance of the physiognomy in the photo, directly "photo peeling" in real life :) But one thing is bad - the battery quickly sits down in the cold, and we just prefer to go to the Baltic so I had to buy a second battery.
ollennka, I really respect Lenovo! I have a smart "Prestigio", there is a very unimportant camera, BUT I advise you to download "Open Camera" in the Google market and take a picture through this prelag. The difference is very noticeable. There you can even set the ISO value if the phone's camera allows. By the way, it doesn’t allow me, but my husband works at Flya!

Yes, I want a camera with a good zoom. and ideally, so that you can put on a light filter from glare, this is the main problem that infuriates when photographing on trips ((

LaFifa, thanks, I went to download the program.

And I only have a NOKIA C6-01 mobile phone and photos and videos, it shoots better than the CANON A570. And most often with my eyes.

Phone, and then processing in Aviary (application for android, definitely a lot of free filters and settings (I don’t know for ios)
I agree .. a DSLR, a DSLR, but dragging it along with you is not always comme il faut)))

At first there was a half-soap dish :) Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2, excellent quality of pictures - neither before nor after, nothing worked out better for me. But I poked her. I rented it to several services - everyone told different things: from "everything is in order with the camera" to "everything is gone, it is necessary to change some kind of unit at a cost comparable to the device itself."
We bought the next Lumix DMC-ZX1 - the quality of the photo is worse, but the video shoots like a beast!
Then I wanted perversions, I bought a Canon EOS 550D ... here you either need to study seriously, or return to soap dishes. Because the pictures can turn out from absolutely perfect to terrible, terrible. As a result, I left it for home filming, I take Lumix on trips.

Yes, I never process anything - I think it's unsportsmanlike! :) At most, I can remove red eyes if there is a valuable shot, or crop it.

From personal experience, I would recommend the following...
You should always update your equipment (photo, video equipment...). The camera and video camera must be modern, comply with HDTV (High Definition TeleVision) formats, which assumes an image resolution of 1920 × 1080 (Full HD) and higher. With age, when time passes, it will be a pity that you will no longer take those shots when you were young and cheerful, in good image quality.
Therefore, do not be stingy and upgrade your equipment to a more modern one.

LaFifa, thanks for suggesting the Android photography program. Last year in Lisbon, on one very busy day, all 4 (!) of us successfully ran out of batteries in cameras, and I also had a second, spare one. I had a tablet at hand, but the quality of the pictures turned out to be lousy. I left this idea. And now I'll experiment with a new program. :)
My camera is an old Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18. But for the number of pictures that I take in a year, I have enough. :)
Last year there was an idea to buy something new, but while it matured and studied the "range" and reviews ... Prices have risen fantastically. :) So in the fall I bought 2 batteries for Panasonic. :))

It's a pity that I threw away the magnifier, but anyway, I'll load the film into the old woman "Change M", born in 1962, take a photo, digitize it - I'm just wondering how such an adventure will look like.

Probably everyone started with a soap dish, I had a Kodak.
Then I bought a CANON SX10is superzoom, good photo quality, but video is rather weak, and the weight is generally uncomfortable 500 grams.
And finally I bought for any weather and any conditions - a small, shockproof and water resistant (up to 10 m dive) OLYMPUS TG-830. while everything suits, and the video also shoots cool 1920 * 1080-Full HD, you can set the shooting location.
There were other fotiki, but they did not attract my attention at all. I choose from the middle price category, but to satisfy my needs.
And since the new year, my mobile phone with a laser focus LG-D724 G3s has been doing great with photos and videos, a relatively small photo size and good color reproduction quality, the shooting location too.

And how, nadin65, filmed underwater?
How does he react to salt water?
аватар nadin65
Everything is great! In Egypt, under the bright sun, the shots are excellent, the video underwater is also excellent. We leave the water and rinse under fresh water so that the protective rubber bands do not dry out. We immediately purchased an additional battery, because it sits down faster under water. When snorting, good shots did not come out immediately, there were five times more blurry. Then they learned to tenaciously hold the camera with an outstretched hand without swinging along the waves.
