How to travel to Demre-Myra-Kekova from Goynuk on your own? Does it make sense to rent a car or is it better to take some regular buses?

I didn’t see a direct bus to Demre, I definitely saw that a minibus runs from Antalya to Finike, from Finike, apparently, you can take another bus. On a rented car, of course, it is more comfortable, but it will also be more expensive.

Demre and Mira are almost the same - the distance is 1.5 km, you can get there on your own by bus. Kekova is an island that no tourists are allowed on, you can see it from the village of Simena, which is difficult to get to (about 30 km from the highway). So take a boat trip, you won't regret it.

Renting a car in Turkey always makes sense!!! Not economic, but for the sake of convenience :)

In 2003 we rented a car with a driver for 3 to demre-mira-kekova. On the way we caught crabs for $ 1 and for extra. We rented a "mini-boat" on which they fried crabs for us, and which took us to Kekova, where they looked at the sunken city and bought it. A car with a driver turned out to be quite a bit more expensive than we would have paid for 3 on a bus tour. There were also in the church of St. Nicholas. Everywhere we approached any Russian-speaking group and walked with them, no one even paid attention. It is very convenient by car, if you don’t mind paying extra.

I forgot to add: we went from Kirish, i.e. a little closer to the destination than Goynuk.

In principle, there is nothing to see there, except for the ruins on the island of Kekova, the Lycian tombs with an amphitheater and the church of St. Nicholas. All this is included in the tour costing 25 bucks. So do not worry, but buy a tour in any street agency like Ginza or Herou and that's it. Moreover, the tour includes a boat trip to the island of Kekova, lunch and swimming in the sea near Simena.

As noted above ... a car is for convenience and freedom. If this is not required, then it is possible and "herd". It's just that there are individuals who don't want crowds and fast, they can't stand "factories" of textiles, onyx "workshops", etc. So I went and so, for me personally, the question of money. If I'm ready to pay more - I'll take more, if not, then for "25 bucks" you can)))

Regular buses run from Antalya to Fethiye several times a day along the coast. We paid 70 Turkish lira for two from Fethiye to Kemer, in your case it should come out cheaper, because. the distance is less. But whether it is worth being tied to their schedule is up to you. By car is much more convenient, although more expensive (gasoline in Turkey is not cheap).

A normal car (Ford, Renault) can be rented in Goynuk up to 50 euros / day. Fuel consumption - about 6.5p / 100 km. The cost of 95 gasoline is about 1.4 euro / l. Consider me, as a traveler in my car, only for the car. Good luck!
