Please advise where is better in May in the Carpathians (not treatment, not hiking)
I just want to go for a week to rest in the Carpathians, enjoying the scenery and mountain air. We don't plan to go much because we have a baby. I would like to visit thermal springs and interesting sights, maybe the valley of daffodils (not necessary). To be honest, we can’t decide where to go and what to see. Please tell me what is worth seeing and how best to plan a route in our case. We go by train to Lviv, and from there .... Thank you in advance for your answer.

What kind of thermal waters do you need? They are all different in composition, there are many sources in Transcarpathia and they are also all different - from sodium chloride to iodine-bromine.
I used to often go to Truskavets for May holidays, but just to get treatment. Many good private boarding houses have now been built there, the town is pleasant, in the spring it is just fine, there are a huge number of excursions from there. From Lviv from the station there is a minibus. And, most importantly, there is an absolutely indispensable for girls SPA complex "Med Palace" :)) But this is still the Lviv region, there are no mountains there.
A little more "wild" and mountainous place with springs - Skhodnitsa, less civilizations, more beautiful nature. You can also get from Lviv by minibus.
If you are primarily interested in nature and mountains, then it is better to take a train to Uzhgorod or Ivano-Frankivsk. To get to the Ivano-Frankivsk region (Yaremcha, Vorokhta, Tatariv, Bukovel), you need to get off in Ivano-Frankivsk and take a minibus in the direction of Vorokhta, there is a rather long crossing. To get to Transcarpathia, you need to get off the Uzhgorod train at the Volovets or Svalyava stops, for example. There are also mineral waters in Svalyava.

If you are without your own transport (and it is unrealistic to rent a car there) and with a child, then I think it would be optimal to take organized excursions. They are offered in almost any hotel - and in the valley of daffodils, and in the Palanok castle, and in the Lviv opera house, and in the Shepit waterfall, Lake Synevyr, and just a lot of all kinds of walking views.

Mountain air is a tourist complex "Voevodyno" (Transcarpathian region), "Migovo" (Chernivtsi region), Slavske, Rozhanka (there is a base "Tsarinka" in the forest on the banks of the river).
Thermal springs (as I understand it for swimming) - Coastal. Valley of daffodils near Khust.

We wanted to go to Truskavets in Senachal, but since we were going for a short time, this option disappeared, we preferred the mountains. Just to the Slavsky area. But if, for example, you go to the same Tsarinka, who was in the summer? Is it just walking in the mountains? From there, perhaps you can not take organized tours?
And I’m afraid in Khust because I read reviews that you can not get into the flowering period and be disappointed. That is, specifically to build a vacation in order to see exactly the valley of daffodils is somehow scary ... so we toil. Pachok, NatashaS, thanks for the advice, now I'm considering these options.

"the valley of daffodils, and to the Palanok castle, and to the Lviv opera house, and to the Shepit waterfall, Lake Synevyr ..."
it's all in different places ... It turns out for us to visit all these places, only to go to Truskavets and take excursions?

In May, you need to plan for Transcarpathia - it is usually much warmer there in May than in the Crimea and the Carpathians. I would go to Voevodyno or something like that.
аватар lanos
Read my review too. I heard good things about Voevodino.

te-ez, yes, it's all in different places, but excursions can be organized almost anywhere. For a one-day excursion from any point in the Carpathians to any point. You just need to find out in advance in the hotel where you decide to stay.
I also heard a lot of good reviews about Voevodino.
And about this hotel: http://www.reikartz.com/hotels/polyana-abouthotel.html
And see the Ark http://www.megura.net/
But this is very, very solitude and immersion in nature :)))
Well, and my favorite "Kamenka", I go there three or four times a season. http://www.kamyanka.com.ua/ua/photogallery/in_hotel/ But it's convenient there with your own transport. Or call in advance to find out if the director will be at the base, since he drives himself on excursions in his car. The director is a young intelligent man, urban, speaks Russian. But there is a significant minus - it is inconvenient (or expensive) to get there - from the railway. station Volovets.

lanos, you have a great review. I am glad that there you are promising about 88% :)))) but we are not going skiing ...
LILIANA_ODESSA, it's very cool in Voevodino, I just watched it.
Pack, thanks for the links. Everything is very, very pleasant. At first they wanted to work in the private sector, but now they have changed their minds. The ark is super, of course, but you probably won’t come there for 1-2? and excursions from there are probably inconvenient since it is so high in the mountains ... Or maybe I can carve out a day on the contrary ... My head is already spinning !!!
Such a plan turned out to be Uzhgorod (Nevitsky castle) - Mukachevo (there to see the Palanok z., Synevyr lake, Shenborn castle) - Beregovo (geothermal springs). You can live all this time in Voevodino from there just all the excursions, including the Narcissus Valley. Or first stop in Uzhgorod, then in Voevodyno and then leave for a couple of days in Berehove?! Can you please tell me how realistic my plan is?
аватар te--ez
Or even get out to the Ark for a couple of days. Or abandon Voevodyno and live somewhere in the Mukachevo region. Uzhzhzhsss ... head spinning. Thank you very much for your help!

Friends! And what would you call the calling card of the Carpathians? Consider not seen...-not been in the Carpathians!
аватар lanos
You inattentively read my review, it’s good there in the summer.
аватар Pachok
No need to stop to live in Uzhgorod :) Waste your time.
Business card... I don't know. For me, the Carpathians are some kind of picturesque pass, mountain rivers, blueberries and mushrooms (but it’s too early for both of them), a kolyba with yushka and homemade sausage. And fewer tourists :) Here you sit in the evening at a godforsaken camp site and listen to the bells that cows tinkle, heading home, and no cars, no moronic music.

Uzhgorod is a wonderful city, it deserves to spend an evening there. The center is similar to Eastern European cities.

Pachok, I have the same idea of the Carpathians, so they abandoned Lviv (recently they were in Prague) I want solitude, but Uzhgorod is nearby, as they say, it’s a sin not to look with one eye)))

By the way, my husband saw a link to Reikartz and said he would only live there!

Consider our hotel "Transcarpathian OASIS " as an option.
The location is very favorable for excursions (not far from the thermal springs) We also conduct excursions to all sources. places of the Carpathians.
The hotel is located in the woods at the foot of the mountain, the river nearby.
Historic castle 200m. from the hotel, as well as the dendro park of the 18th century.
Reasonable prices!

Thanks of course for the advice, the location of the hotel is very good. But we need something like Reikartz Karpaty. I really like this hotel, but its remoteness from residential settlements confuses. We are without a car. Those. there is nowhere else to eat, only in the hotel and around it to walk around?! Tell me who knows?

Rested with a friend in Transcarpathia from 02 to 08 May 2011 at the hotel "Transcarpathian oasis". The priority was fresh air, nature and the possibility of visiting excursions. stop at Mukachevo, Uzhgorod, cafe and shop, but at the same time silence and comfort in the room. A short walk away is the stunning Count Shenborn Park, there is also a "source of beauty". A great opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis and touch the history of Transcarpathia. We thank Dmitry and his colleagues for their hospitality, as well as guide Ivan for a professional approach and sensitive attitude towards tourists.
respectfully,
Sofia and Tatiana

we turned to them http://www.7ways.com.ua/ when we wanted somewhere not for long and comfortably, and most importantly, what would not hit our pockets, to relax ..
