Hike to Goverla. We are planning for the end of June. Advise a guide or maybe better on your own. Maybe someone wants to join?
Hi all! We are planning a trip to Hoverla at the end of June. There are 3 of us: a guy and 2 girls. Who can recommend a guide? And how much will it cost? Anyone willing to join? Thank you in advance

In recent years, people have been walking there, as if along Khreshchatyk, though up and down. You need to get to Zaroslyak, and then along the path to Hoverla, it is advisable to look at the waterfall. Pointers are present, merge with the masses, and have fun up!

Transfer at prices Ivano-Frankivsk-Zaroslyak (Hoverla), Lviv-Zaroslyak (Hoverla), Ternopil-Zaroslyak (Hoverla).

If you are without a car, then contact any travel agency, which is full of ads there, who carries to Hoverla. You may also be accompanied, although everything is easy and understandable there without accompaniment. Important: be sure to take raincoats, even if there is not a cloud in the sky. The weather there is very bad, it changes in a second, we were covered with rain right at the top

Thanks for the advice. Just do not want to go in the crowd from the travel agency. And the wife wants organization. Here we think...

when we were, our "crowd consisted" of 4 people + driver, who was the same guide. That is, very small groups gather there, very comfortable. If you still want to be completely, completely alone, then you can express your wishes in the same travel agency, and I think they will advise you on someone. They have word of mouth in this area, the whole system is well-established: whom to take where, bring in - they call each other and transfer clients.

The guide is absolutely not needed, except that the money is so tight in the pocket that you need to urgently give it to someone :)
There is a huge crowd going back and forth every day, just go where and that's it, just not along the red route, you won't be able to get lost even if you really want to.
The ascent starts from the village of Zaroslyak, the main thing is to get there (a lot of buses go there), and that's it.

I agree with Kolyan, you don’t need a guide there, we climbed ourselves, joining some small group, made three halts where we wanted, then we stuck to another group and so slowly climbed Hoverla, and we weren’t even very tired. It was much harder for me to go down, it was slippery, it was drizzling with light rain, and I kept poking my head over the pebbles and slowing down, grabbing some tree. So my advice is to wear very comfortable shoes with non-slip soles.

Here is a lot of useful information for self-conquest of the Carpathian peaks:

I advise you to rent ski poles - down under the mountain you can. They make climbing a lot easier.
And also water is a must, I saw people who thought to get up lightly and did not take water, they were very tormented.
I still do not advise you to go in shorts - during the descent you will definitely fall a couple of times, you must have pants to scratch yourself.

I never go outside without water.

If you want to enjoy the silence, nature, take beautiful photos - do not climb Hoverla on Tuesday and Friday - these days the Vorokhta tourist complex conducts mass group ascents to the top, 100-150 people each. at a time, they start from Zaroslyak approx. 9.00 am. If, on the contrary, you are afraid of getting lost, then go on these days - this crowd of tourists will be visible throughout the entire route - follow them))). Also on Saturday and holidays (Constitution Day, Independence Day, etc.) there is a full house from travel agencies from all over Ukraine. You can order a transfer to the Zaroslyak tourist center without any problems at the I.-Frankivsk, Yaremche, Vorokhta railways - there are always a lot of private traders there, you can negotiate on the spot. And I recommend taking an instructor already at Zaroslyak (especially if you see that there are few people on the top, and especially if it’s fog-rain, then be sure to take it so as not to stray from the route). Choose an older guide - these are usually former mountain climbers who will ensure you a safe ascent.

I do not recommend using the services of travel agencies, especially those located far from the Carpathians. Often they save on smart guides, cancel trips, etc., and the cost is an order of magnitude higher than on the spot. And definitely in the mountains: a map of the area (do not rely on gadgets), a backpack (free hands), trekking poles (you can rent on Zaroslyak, but not on sold-out days), comfortable sports closed shoes (there will be stones) on the tread, not jeans (wide free stride), hat according to the weather required, raincoat, windbreaker, sun cream, face and shoulders covered, tick spray, water (min. 1.5 l/person), carbohydrate snacks, lighter, camera, charged body ., contacts of local MES-KSS. I don't know the price right now, I was there a few years ago. Happy and safe climbing!
